Aren't a vicar and priest the same thing? So is there another who is the vicar, who is male, and the priest is the mother, etc., female? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Nov 00 - 04:48 AM Elucidation - there are two priests, married to each other, who have just completed a very long process in adopting 3 lovely children - despite what they say, my daughter can out tantrum their eldest any day of the week!! - and after 10 years here, they are moving to Exeter, 150 miles away. He arrived in the parish the same time as I did, and we were the two youngest members of our church at the time. Mind you, there were only 12 of us there! Now we are over 150 and growing, we have a new parish structure, an architectural award winning new parish hall, a refurbished older hall, an experimental liturgy, a widely recognised core of musicians and contacts with the local school and council, all due to him. His wife and I were both going through fertility problems together, and shared a lot. We both sing and shared the stage/music stand/church floor on many occasions. She understands my need for chocolate better than anyone else I know, and I shared in her struggle to become ordained. Their children go to school with Phoebe and their youngest is her best freind. How do you say goodbye to that? LTS |
