Subject: RE: Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw From: Naemanson Date: 09 Nov 00 - 10:11 PM Hey guys, I wish you all the same as the above and put a nice big multiplier on it. Spaw, you've got your hands full with the kids and keeping Karen company but you can do it. Karen, you've got your hands full with healing but the love I see directed at you now should help you on your way to getting back on that bike (wearing a helmet, right?). So kick back, get waited on hand and foot, and heal! This place is so special. I was perusing the threads as I am wont to do when "Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw" jumped out at me. Immediately my heart went into my throat and my eyes filled with tears for a lovely family whom I have never met! And as I read through this thread I felt so good that there were so many people out there who would rally round to offer support and healing energy for them. BTW, Wyo, there was no need to clear a space in your heart for them. From what I've seen here there is room and to spare for them and any of the rest of us. Be assured there is space in my heart for you all. |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw From: katlaughing Date: 10 Nov 00 - 12:31 AM UPDATE: Pat and Karen called me from the hospital, tonight. She is doing well, is on heperin, which will take a day or two to get used to. She was telling me the upside is she gets 5 full days of complete rest; the downside is, tonight, she gets stuck with a needle every six hours for a blood draw! With everything going well, she will go home in 5 days and be on coumadin for 6 months. Oh, and Bert, she says forget the traiing wheels. She is not going bike riding for a long time!**BG** Greyeyes, I forgot to ask if it was British! Sorry:-) I told her about all of your messages and she and Pat both said to say thank you and how much you all mean to them. Pat was going home later tonight and said he'd be along pretty soon to tell you all hello, etc. Seeing as it is already so late there, I don't know if we can really expect that or not. I think it's been a long day and night for them both. He will be going back up to the hospital tomorrow morning. I'll let you know if I hear anything new. Thank you all so very much. My heart feels so full of gratitude for this wonderful, wonderful community. You all are really extraordinarily wonderful! luvyakat |
Subject: RE: Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw From: Helen Date: 10 Nov 00 - 01:00 AM I think Karen will be fine because of all that wonderful, healthy Vegemite she has been eating lately. All those stress-busting B-vitamins will do the trick nicely. So, as well as massive doses of real Ozzie pan-Pacific flying Vegemite I'm also sending love & healing light to one of the families I have never met in the flesh, but who I know and love very much. 'Spaw, at least have the decency to leave the hospital room when the effects of the Vegemite start overpowering your nether regions. (Have you run out of your supply yet?)

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw From: catspaw49 Date: 10 Nov 00 - 01:07 AM This is one helluva' place! I just got home and thought I'd check in for a few minutes to unwind and ....... Well, what can I say? I guess I start with THANK YOU! I can't begin to say all the words I want to say to all of you. Your thoughts and prayers from all across the spectrum and around the world mean more to Karen and I than I express. Karen will see a copy ASAP and I will pass on to her your love, care, and concern. The boys are fine and are staying with Aunt Connie and I believe tonight they are camping under the dining room table. Connie tells me the "tent" is up. Karen's breathing problems have become increasingly worse since the bike accident. I think I'll blame this on Gervase for sending those training wheels which taught Tristan how to ride!!! Karen was riding with the boys about 3+ weeks ago and told Tris to move over (car) and he did......right in front of her. She was pretty well beat up but we didn't figure the breathing problems were related but looking back, it should have been obvious. We had been to the doctor and tests were being done, but this morning was simply too much. I am thankful we went today although I should have pushed harder over the past week. Here's the update.......Karen was admitted to Mt. Carmel (where she also works in the lab) this evening after a battery of tests showing severe clots in the right lung. She is on IV Heparin to break the clots slowly and safely and they will be monitoring very closely and drawing blood every 6 hours. They expect her to be in the hospital 4-5 days and then on Coumadin for 6 months. There's a good bit of pain and they are giving pain medication. She's resting pretty well and in a few days will begin to feel much better.....we hope. All of her coworkers came in to see her and it was really wonderful. After changing jobs last year (13 years at a different hospital lab), we have been convinced it was a good move, but tonight really solidified that feeling. I'll be heading back out early tomorrow and I'll try to check back in again sometime soon. Again.......Our many thanks for all the thoughts, wishes, and prayers, here and by PM and e-mail..........We are grateful and thankful to all of you and send you back our very best in return. Thank you friends, thank you. Spaw |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw From: sian, west wales Date: 10 Nov 00 - 04:37 AM I've been away too ... but best of best wishes to you both. Had a mega-bike-crash myself many years ago ... and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Is it best to be in a hospital where you work? I mean, do you set yourself up for a lot of cutsie-stuff, like little pink bows on the syringes? Or do they save your X-rays to make into your next birthday card? My aunt had gall-stones removed at a hospital where she worked ... no, maybe I won't finish that anecdote. Warm thoughts to the whole family. sian, west wales |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw From: Gervase Date: 10 Nov 00 - 07:03 AM Aargh, the guilt! Seriously, this is the first time I've been able to access the 'Cat for a couple of days and I find this thread. My heart hit my boots, but one advantage of turning up late is that Pat's upbeat message was there too. All the very best to all of you - Karen, Pat, Tris and all the extended tribe. If the combined benevolence of this place can't help then nothing can! I'll think of you and send all the goodwill I can across the pond. Karen, keep taking the rat poison and the leech juice; Pat, keep taking the piss! Much love to you both. |

Subject: RE: Healing thoughts needed for KarenSpaw From: katlaughing Date: 10 Nov 00 - 09:45 AM Karen and Spaw, I have four candles on my altar which I light, along with incense, when I meditate. (No, Spaw, I light the candles, NOT the altar!**BG**) Anyway, they represent Light, Life, Healing Energy, and Love. I light them and snuff them out in that order. Each time I have done a meditation for you both, when I go to snuff them out, the Love one refuses to go out! I hold the snuffer all around the rim of the votive candle holder, no air can be in there, but when I lift it away, voila! It is still burning, which I take to be very symbolic not just of the Love beaming at you from all of us, but also symbolic of Karen and her lungs; she's always got some air in there to keep the flame burning and I know it is getting better by the minute. luvyakat |
