This thread is wonderful! I've always had trouble with and felt inadequate around rythmn on the guitar (To me all the songs I've written sound like they have the same rythmn!). I knew I had much to learn but didn't really know how to go about learning it. Now I'm using the auto-drums on my midi keyboard (Yamaha PSS480)to get better aquainted with the different beat styles. It tells me the name of the beat I'm listening to as well. I just hope I can remember them. :`} ~ Jande |

Yes, dancing and foot-tapping are related, but it's not the feet that are the problem. What the Hell am I supposed to do with my hands if there's not a guitar in them? Okay, I know some smart-ass is going to respond, "Put a woman in them, Stupid!". I can do squares and contras and even a passable slow-dance. It's that modern "non-contact" dancing that throws me. Once I get comfortable with what the feet are doing I start worrying about what to do with the hands and then the feet get out of time and I usually trip and bust my ass. I'd rather play for a dance than do one anyday. Cheers, bwl |
Subject: RE: Help for rhythmicly challenged? From: Jande Date: 09 Apr 01 - 12:47 PM I just imagined seeing myself playing for dancers and realised I felt intimidated by the idea. So I guess I'd rather dance than play for dancers. :`) ~ Jande |
