After checking with Jock Morris, here's the plan.

MEET at my place in Auchendinny anytime Sat. lunchtime onwards (details below). Get settled, sort accomodation, dump swag, session through the afternoon until everybody's turned up and head for the pub about 8pm. (bring carry-outs- although there will doubtless be a run to the offy at some stage!) We could eat here or head to the pub a bit earlier for a meal - feedback, please. Any vegetarians need catered for?
I got given a brace of Pheasants a day or so ago, so could do a Sunday roast!

TRANSPORT:- A minibus drops off the usual sessioners at the pub about 8pm. We could book it to come back and fetch us c. 8.15, and do a return run at shutting time. Price dependant on numbers, but should be under a fiver. Alternatively, we could drive up, and book just the return trip on the bus, or......somebody stay sober!

NUMBERS:- It's kinda important to get a good idea of numbers -- beds needed, food, seats on the bus, etc.
Please sign up here!
I forgot to look at the old thread, but from memory, we've got:-
Calach (+ friends?), Scabby Doug, Jock Morris, myself, Tattie Bogle (Sunday only), Wavestar?
Any more out there?
DIRECTIONS:-
Take A 701 (Penicuik/Peebles) road from Edinburgh, or from city bypass (Lothianburn or Straiton junctions). After Noble's garage and the Countryside Inn (on right) the A 701 veers to the right and becomes dual carriageway. The slip road for Auchendinny is to the left just as the bends starts. Go right through the village. 150 yards after the second traffic lights, there's a pair of stone gate pillars wi' balls on top, on the left, just after a white cottage, and just before the speed de-limit signs. Turn in here and mine's the wee hoose on the right of the big yin at the end of the drive, but park outside the left hand house. My front door's in the garden, not on the end of the house.
Anybody arriving after 8pm:- same as above, but instead of turning in to the house, carry on 5 miles to Leadburn (at junction of A 701, A 703, A 6094).
By BUS ---Loads from Edinburgh to Penicuik. Get off at the precinct and phone for me to come and fetch you. Only Auchendinny bus is the 315 and hoof the last half mile. After 8pm, take No. 62 to Leadburn.
Any queries tel/fax 01968 676251

Rob

Rob,

I'll be down late afternoon (ish). I'll bring air mattress and sleeping bag, so all I need is some floor space; oh and space to park the landy!

Thanks for letting me know, Wavestar and Jock,
Just spoken to Marie, who organises the bus -- there might be space for us in the first run, if we're interested.

This is cool! This weekend there is a Mudcat gathering in Manchester, England, and one in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. This makes three gatherings this weekend!

Wavestar,
There's a dog called Raisin next door, so we'll have a bit of a raisin weekend, too!
Jock,
Found this 28 button Lachenal Anglo on e-bay UK, going a lot cheaper than a 20 button, that some yank's bid $600 for. Click here

Rob,

The Lachenal looks good, probably worth about £500. Not sure I can justify buying another concertina at the moment as I know I'd have problems parting with it for profit (would want to keep it).

Looks like it may be early evening now before I can get down to your place; family coming visiting.

Scott,
I lost my "personal" attachment to cheap instruments over 20 years ago. Provided I have the one I play, the rest are a (hopefully) self perpetuating/financing/improving collection...............................
Just to prove my point, 'cos I'm feeling chuffed tae f*ck; I phoned a friendly music shop for advice on dismantling/shifting said Bloody Grand Piano -- got the gen, and asked about my buying price. Bought Whisky when told retail is thrice what I paid!
Mercenary bastard that I am..........................
Plenty Landy space, by the way --- a couple of nice specials on the estate :-- An S III 2 1/4 Taxi-Diesel powered LWB 1/2 Safari/crewcab/pickup + a (still being built) S II SWB V8 off-roader, both owned by Grease Monkey/ Sparky neighbour, Davie (Boron) Reid, who may turn up at Leadburn.

Hi guys.... I'll be there, but transport now is SNAFU. Either require lift from Edinburgh, or the option of the afternoon bus seems to be fine.
See you sometime after 2.00/3.00. If I get the bus, I will call you when I reach nearest phone. Calach/Ian.

Calach,

I might be coming into Edinburgh tomorrow, to get strings&things. Give me a bell about lunchtime - what area of town are you?
Lamenting dead cars is about as useful as lamenting the proverbial lightbulb, whilst somebody else in the particular joke changes it. Fix it, torch it, recycle into musical instruments (I have a Mercedes-Benz harp!) or sell it.
Jeremy Clarkson's been demonstrating various options for blowing them up, on the boob-tube recently.
Good song thread, though - hard to find an audience WITHOUT someone who's had a breakdown!..........other good pub ones are Mike Bloomfield/Nick Gravenites' "They're Lettin' me Drive Again"-----(for the banned) and Wes McGhee's "The Cheater's Own Blues"...... introduced with.........."how many of you have committed adultery??????............No, No,......... don't bother to put your hands up, but you know who you are!" Especially good in a room full of couples..........
See ya the morn<
Rob
P.S. Jock told me about the prang - shame I didn't know - I sold the local "Spare car" only yesterday for £100 -- it's been passed around the gang, when their car goes bang. and has proved to be more reliable than anything we've got, despite sitting unused for months at a time, until the next emercency........................

Sorry chaps, I have to call off..

A number of things have cropped up and I won't be able to make it. I was only going to be able to attend on one of the days anyway, but I am very disappointed to let you down at such short notice...

I'm messaging from work...

will be here all weekend
