Subject: RE: BS: T.E. Nicholas. Who's he? From: GUEST,Fedele Date: 20 Nov 00 - 06:13 AM Tony, try this... http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~yan/int/int.html I told the guy also where he can find the Arab, Japanese and Turkish lyrics, but he didn't find the time to add them yet. If you know any other language than those, please help (try also to find my thread: Lyr Req: The Internationale - various languages). Thanks to both. |
Subject: RE: BS: T.E. Nicholas. Who's he? From: sian, west wales Date: 20 Nov 00 - 06:01 AM If I get time to go to the Library, I'll get you TE's biog. I couldn't tell you from memory, but I think he was known as Niclas y Glais, and was a major Welsh poet around the 1930s, based in ... the upper Swansea Valley? I don't know where Tegwyn's got to these days; he could tell you absolutely everything you would ever want to know, and give you a better translation than the following.
Deffrowch, orthrymedigion daear,
Awaken, oppressed of the earth,
Henffych weithwyr y gwledydd,
Hail workers of the nations sian

Subject: T.E. Nicholas. Who's he? From: Fedele Date: 17 Nov 00 - 05:04 PM Well, I know he translated the International in Welsh. But who's he? I tried to find a book but it seems he was never translated in Italian. Oh, and could anyone re-translate in English the Welsh version? To me it looks just like a mixture of G, W, Y and D, even if it sounds very good when sung... ;-) |
