Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: Micca Date: 23 Dec 00 - 08:33 AM When I was meditaing on the candle to send energy to Wes and Bretta and the twins, last night,,, I was thinking, light travels at 186000 miles a second, so the Light from all the candles lit is arriving simultaneously( since in those terms distances on earth are trivial) with the supportive good and healing feelings from the chain of little individual candles all around the world, all Faiths and beliefs united in a single purpose, and it restores my belief in the intrinsic goodness and commonality of purpose of my friends on the Mudcat ( regardless of the odd spat), may this co-operative effort help and warm the Smiths, and by the Rule of 3 reflect back to those who have joined in this, and give them the shared feeling of peace and Tranquility I felt thinking about it, Bright Blessings to them and to all my friends.and may My Lady smile benignly on Patrick and bring him safely through, so mote it be Micca.. |

Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Dec 00 - 12:03 AM As I turn in tonight, a new candle flickers away and we all hope for the best. I sure liked Micca's analysis of the speed of light.....Ties it together....as we are. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: Extra Stout Date: 24 Dec 00 - 02:14 AM Micca's citing the laws of physics was a comforting reminder of the unity underlying the limits of the speed of light and the power of prayer; both expressions of the power of a loving ( if occasionially inscrutable)God. I found a good, big wax candle for my house, and I'll add one at Old St. Patrick's( Toledo, Ohio) this morning. I'm new to Mudcat, so give me a break, please, if I come off as pushy, insensitive, or ignorant, but I wonder if the Smiths are in need of a more concrete expression of solidarity and support than e-mails and candles. Wes and Bretta, can we send you blankets or sleepers? Do you have diaper pins and pacifiers? Can we help pay for nurses or sitters? Is there anything you wish we would do? One or two writers mentioned the power of Patrick's name. It's my Confirmation name and my son's middle name. Maybe all the Paddys pulling together can do some good. Speaking of concrete expressions of support, for what good it may do, I am Marty Brogan. I live at 4828 Monac Drive, Toledo, Ohio,43623. My phone is 419-474-3883,e-mail to mbrogan@ireland.com or MJBrogan@peoplepc.com. This information is to be used for Mudcat purposes only. Anyone sharing these addresses with insurance salesmen or home improvement contractors will be hunted down and dealt with. |

Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: roopoo Date: 24 Dec 00 - 03:28 AM As I said on the other thread, tonight at the Christmas Communion service, the church will be candlelit with over 100 candles. All the candles have peoples' names on them. I will have one named for Patrick, and I will offer my prayers and Communion for him. Andrea |
Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: katlaughing Date: 24 Dec 00 - 09:52 AM Nathan, that is beautiful. Thank you. I managed to sleep despite the light, for the first time last night, with the new pillar candle I lit yesterday and it is still going strong and steady. Wes and Bretta, may this day and the eve bring you comfort, gentle joy, and peace with the love of your wee ones. love, kat |

Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: Dave the Gnome Date: 24 Dec 00 - 01:22 PM We had three lit in our hearth but one was duff and the wick disappeared! Is this co-incidence or what - we now also have one for each twin. As the proud dad of twins (now nearly 16) my prayers and thoughts go to the whole family. Peace and love to you all. Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: wysiwyg Date: 26 Dec 00 - 12:35 AM Duh, I just realized I have some phone numbers I can try (through the Smith's church) to get word to them about all this wonderful support and to see if there is some news. I'll hope to see some news here from Wes in the AM, but if there is none, I will start phoning. Hardiman remembered the Smiths through all the weekend services and today's, but especially the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass; and my own prayer candle has been burning steadily. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: Extra Stout Date: 26 Dec 00 - 01:24 AM Emotion overwhelmed my memory, but my son, whose middle name is actually Joseph, is still praying for Patrick Smith. I feel a little stupid twisting in the wind out here by myself. If a physical address can help the parents or the boys, please feel free to use mine. I don't know where they are, but if they're near Toledo,(or Detroit, or Cleveland) I can go to them. On Christmas Day we clebrated the 100th Christmas Mass at St. Patrick's. Wes and Bretta and Brendan and Patrick were as much a part of the Mass as were the canal diggers and railroad men who built the church. Their candle is a big blue one in front of the Blessed Virgin's altar. |
Subject: RE: Lighting a candle for the Smith Twins From: katlaughing Date: 26 Dec 00 - 03:10 AM Extra Stout/Marty - thank you for jumping right in there and welcome to the Mudcat Cafe. You were not pushy or anything else, but rather exhibited those qualites we admire the most around here: a willingness to care and share. Thank you. As far as I know, they are not in your area. Hopefully we will hear from Wes, tomorrow. I've got a couple of options in mind if we don't. Wishing you all the best and continuing to hold Wes and family in the Light, kat |
