Subject: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: katlaughing Date: 31 Dec 00 - 01:21 AM PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT intended as a thread for debate about what some of us believe in as psychic powers. We've been there and done that. Please be respectful; if you want to talk about your belief that some of us are crazy, please go do in private or start your own thread. Thanks! I have been working for years at developing my psychic sight and hearing. Sometimes I cannot tell a person's racial colour, I see black or white, or another colour, then in the blink of eye realise the person is totally different than what I saw. I hear things when no one is around, people talking, distinct words, music, bells, etc. While walking or driving down the road I will see a very specific thing or person along the way, only to find, when I get closer, that it is something else altogether. It is not that I need new glasses, nor that my hearing is in need of repair, just had both checked! I do believe I am *tuning* in and catching snippets/glimpses of another part of our world not commonly seen or heard. Please feel free to share your experiences and/or insights, too. I'd be interested in reading them, as I am sure others would, too. Thanks, kat P.S. Happy New Year and New Millennium! |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Amergin Date: 31 Dec 00 - 01:42 AM Dammit, Kat, you just had to ruin it by saying be respectful....I guess that means no smartass comments, too.... Well, it doesn't happen often but I have had dreams come true....meaning I have dreamt about something that later happened.... I also do get feelings about people....about what sort of person they are.... There are also people that I have met that I know I have met before....in another lifetime..my exgirlfriend is one of these....but then that could be part of those certain feelings I get about people.... Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Haruo Date: 31 Dec 00 - 01:52 AM There have been a couple of times (and unfortunately I didn't make notes of the details, title, page number etc.) when I've been reading a book that I never read before, and have known how the next page was going to go before I turned the page. These were "scholarly tome" type works involving unfamiliar text and unfamiliar terminology, and I remember being so surprised to have a "déjà vu" experience reading them (and to realize that the experience referred to just seconds earlier, and was in my mind) that I held the pages up to the light to see if there was any chance I had seen it coming due to flimsy paper, but no, they were opaque as one could wish. Aside from the startlingness of the experience, I've never seen any particular "meaning" or "usefulness" to it, but it certainly was amazing at the time. Liland |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Amos Date: 31 Dec 00 - 02:40 AM It's quite an uphill battle to walk back from "all-body peceptions only" to seeing for oneself as a spiritual force in your own right, once in a while; it's like giving up a favorite crutch. If we can hide out as bodies, why, then we won't have to confront all them confusing things, right? Nestle right in, shut down those troubling perceptions, you don't need them; stick to the REAL stuff, man. The stuff your body tells you. That's all you need to be safe and snug and .... BLAM!!!!. At least sometimes, that's what happens -- that Blam at the end there. It's similar to the sudden surprise a streetie must experience when they have been deferring responsibility over and over and one day they wake up without a car to sleep in or a friend to ask for help, except their quart o' Thunderbird. I think there's an interesting parallel between these two lines. So, by all means, wake up as many psychic powers as you can. Watch out for the unlimited plasticity of thought forms, which can easily propose any reality under the sun, true, false or inbetween. But don't let that dissuade you from exercising the ability to see in any dimension you can find. And may the year be a bright, flourishing, prosperous and happy one for you. Love, A |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Little Neophyte Date: 31 Dec 00 - 07:38 AM Sometimes I wish I didn't see as much as I do. Would make life a lot easier. Guess that has to do with boundaries. Seems God left out some of my boundary wiring. I figure it is the natural state of being human to have the ability to see so much more than we typically allow ourselves to see. We don't see dimensions we could see as a means of functioning on this planet or maybe just due to fear. Conscious awareness of other realities is always available for us to exercise and expand. The trick is not to mix up realities. This has gotten me in trouble in the past. Some things I see need not be mixed up in my perception of daily reality nor discussed with others. Some of this stuff just needs to be acknowledged and allowed to pass on by. Little Neo |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Midchuck Date: 31 Dec 00 - 09:25 AM I perceive "be respectful" as another way of saying, "If you disagree with me, shut up!" So I will. Peter. |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Matt_R Date: 31 Dec 00 - 09:31 AM Well, I've just started having dreams of my girlfriend telling me things....that she tells me herself later that day. It's pretty scary. But I also made me realize that if we are sending each other subconscious messages...well...we were MEANT for each other. |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: katlaughing Date: 31 Dec 00 - 11:46 AM As I said, Midchuck/Peter, start your own thread and discuss away, as we've already done once. Any of us have a right to do so, but I believe we also have a right to have a thread where we feel we can safely discuss such things without ridicule, etc. as happened before. The way you interpret "please be respectful" is up to you; if I read that by another 'Catter, I'd figure they deserved it just for asking. Thanks to everyone who has posted their experiences. kat |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Sourdough Date: 31 Dec 00 - 02:16 PM I normally wouldn't follow up a thread on this topic but when I saw the "Please be respectful", I was curious what reaction it would spark. I didn't even think about posting until I saw Liland's post about the meaning of coincidence. It reminded me of a book by a writer/philosopher who some here might recognize, Arthur Koestler. Koestler became facinated by the work of a German herpatologist who was raising midwife toads and had gotten extraordinary results from the genetic studies he had done with these creatures. He seemed to be changing their species by changing their environment. I don't mean he was changing them in a series of generation, this was happening in a single generation. It seemed like proof of Lysenkoism. The German herpatologist had a hobby. He studied coincidence. He watched for it in his own life and in the lives of others. He classified it into different types and looked for meaning. Koestler had come across references to the work in the late scientist's journals and in the finished book he went into some detail on the scientist's hobby. The book was called, "The Case of the Midwife Toad". If it sounds familiar, you might have seen it ten years ago in the PBS series, "NOVA". Koestler was so fascinated by the topic that he wrote an additional book, this time called "The Roots of Coincidence". In it, he studied the methods, conclusion and meaning of coincidence. Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: Haruo Date: 31 Dec 00 - 06:58 PM Peter Midchuck, maybe you should start a parallel thread for discussing the same topic without mutual respect ;-)... And Sourdough, thanks, but what I experienced was something other than "coincidence" or "synchronicity"; it was rather an odd kind of precognition. Wish I could remember the precise locations (titles and pages). Liland By the way, I just opened an Auld Lang Syne in Esperanto page (would welcome feedback on e.g. whether the sound works, as I'm doing from a computer with no speakers). It's supposed to have the Scottish text, too, but so far I've only got two stanzas. (All I could find at home.) |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day - December 31, 2000 From: katlaughing Date: 31 Dec 00 - 07:29 PM Liland, the sound was fine, but I couldn't read the lyrics on the pink background; I think a different text colour would be better. Thanks for posting it, though! I also agree with you; what I've been talking about goes way beyond coincidence. kat |
