Subject: Martyn Wyndham-Read..on tour From: Bill D Date: 21 Jan 01 - 08:59 PM ..and we had him in Wash DC last night. And he was as wonderful, gracious and silly as ever! If he gets anywhere near you, don't miss the opportunity to hear tall tales, Australian songs, and other songs which, to me, make the point about how songs can be "in the tradition" without being OLD folk. Even curmudgeons can recognize stuff that 'fits' In this context, Martyn revealed that he has JUST finished recording a CD of all Graeme Miles songs!!...to be released this May or June...he sang 4 or 5 of them for us...wonderful, melodic, moving songs of feeling and life. (When you hear "Smoke Over Belfast", you will understand) (ask Martyn about the bureaucratic hassles that prevented his tour LAST year!..Makes you wonder ...) |
