I've been a mudcatter for a couple of months. I don't post very much (there are a lot of people in this site that are much more expert than me!) but I enjoy and appreciate the information I get from reading the postings. I am planning a trip to Ireland - sometime hopefully between March and May before the airfares go up. I'd like to find a music festival, workshop, school, etc. to attend. Last year I attended the Tommy Makem songschool in South Armagh. It was wonderful, but I'd like to try something different. I'm primarily a singer although I play a bit of guitar. I'd probably be happy with a relatively small, local musical event and don't have a particular region in mind. I may have to get around by train or bus since I don't know if I have the nerve to rent a car by myself and drive on the other side of the road! Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Here's a link to the Ennis Fleadh Nua, 24 May - click here I have been to this for the last 4 years and always enjoyed it although I think it's quieter than it used to be. There are singers' events and workshops and one advantage is that it's very easy to get to by public transport - I go on the bus from England. May see you there!

Thanks! I pulled up the website and it sounds like just what I'm looking for. I'm going to look into it!

You may like to try the Inishowen singers festival in Donegal at the end of March. As well as the booked guests, it attracts great singers from all over Ireland and UK. Their website is http://sites.netscape.net/milnerconroy/inishowenseminar
