The Hungarian rock version:

Great fiddling too. The reel in the middle sounds familiar, but I can't place it.

Yes, it's a very common reel, but I don't know remember the name of any reels! Anyway, the Irish Rovers (famous rendition) use the same reel, and I image at this point their rendition is being "covered".

The reel is Drowsy Maggie. It was showing up everywhere for awhile in the '70s.

I was enjoying the YouTube item till that guy started singing.

Re the Exxon Valdiz. It was established long ago that the crew's problem was lack of sleep, not drink. What with the dangerous record of bulk carrier ships and the loneliness of life on board, they can't seem to find enough men to man them, so they overwork those that they do find.

What will we do with the drunken sailor
What will we do with the drunken sailor
What will we do with the drunken sailor
Early in the morning

Feed him to the hungry rats for dinner
Feed him to the hungry rats for dinner
Feed him to the hungry rats for dinner
Early in the morning

Way, hey and up she rises
Way, hey and up she rises
Way, hey and up she rises
Early in the morning

Slice his throat with a rusty cleaver
Slice his throat with a rusty cleaver
Slice his throat with a rusty cleaver
Early in the morning

Stuff him in a sack and throw him over
Stuff him in a sack and throw him over
Stuff him in a sack and throw him over
Early in the morning

Way, hey and up she rises
Way, hey and up she rises
Way, hey and up she rises
Early in the morning
