Subject: Unequal quarters From: GUEST,Appricot Date: 06 Feb 01 - 01:22 PM My student in the piano plays quarter or other equal notes unequally. What can I do for that? Does this has to do anything with her fingers? Appricot |

Subject: RE: Unequal quarters From: nutty Date: 06 Feb 01 - 01:48 PM I would think it had more to do with her inability to keep time ( this often has to be learned ) a metronome would probably help. |

Subject: RE: Unequal quarters From: GUEST,Russ Date: 06 Feb 01 - 01:57 PM It's more a muscle-memory problem. When you have problems with a passage, slow down. Keep repeating the passage and playing it progressively more slowly until you find a tempo where the student can play it correctly. Repeat at that tempo until the student is comfortable. Speed it up a little. Repeat as needed until the student is playing at the desired tempo. |
