Subject: BS - Question about 'Spot the Dog'?
From: Little Hawk
Date: 14 Feb 01 - 03:56 PM

Hi there, Spot!

My question is...what does your codename "Spot the Dog" mean? Does it mean:

1. Spot, the dog. As in a dog named Spot...

2. or...Look at and take note of the dog. As in "Spot the loony!" (remember that?)

3. or...put a spot on the dog, as with a magic marker or some paint.

4. or...something else?

Inquiring minds want to know. Oh yes, and how famous are you, really? Are you as famous as Elton John, or as famous as Madonna, or just as famous as Earl Bucklesworth?

He's famous in this area anyway, Mr Hawk, sir... How many dogs (spotty or otherwise) do you know who can play the melodeon and gee-tar and sing and dance?

Well, he's had a whole series of books written about him (other dogs lift their leg, Spot llifts his flap!) and a tv series (in the UK). Did you know in Welsh he's Smot?

Steve

And he's no relation to Spit the dog! (Or Bob Warman)

LH - The answer to question 1 is probably 4) Something else. Although what that something else may be.....

As to famous - well, how many other dogs have had to put on make up for a radio show....?

(Spot will explain one day;-))

Is there a distasteful joke to be made here about Bran Muffins,or is that suffocatingly obvious?

Hello everyone (he says Shyly but secretly very pleased to have a thread all of his own but intends to play it cool like it's an everyday event).

Spot the Dog was the name of first album I played and sang on (I have 499 of them buried in my garden). But was also a feeble play on the fact that I came to mudcat as a bit of a dog (no offence to K9's everywhere).

I am quietly working hard here and on paltalk hoping to bury the past along with those bloody albums and become a good a MC'er.

As to famous...I have made records , sang and danced at Sidmouth , Fylde and lots of the other UK festivals. I have done live TV and Radio and toured europe as a folk arts performer (well France and Germany). But then so have thousands of others. My fame , I'm afraid , was a mixture of good whisky and bad humour and I hope one day to be forgiven for it.

Many thanks for asking Little Hawk.

Spot the Dog (currently with two tails)

Spot, your "Mudcat past" was burried a long time ago and it wasn't anything really bad anyway (I've done much worse on more than one occasion and been forgiven) - stop worrying about it and enjo yourself.

Jon

Wasn't Spot the Dog one of the famous characters in the radio show "I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again" back in the 70s. I think he used to live in the Electric Time Trousers

'Where's Proffessor Prune?'

'In the Library'

'Where's that?'

'At the bottom of the left trouser leg'

'Well that's a turnup for the books'

Yes indeed, Spot the Dog (played by Tim Brooke-Taylor) was one of the hits of ISIRTA. There was huge audience response whenever Spot spoke (usually a pathetic woof).

But probably nothing at all to do with 'our' Spot, who shares his middle name with lots of famous people.

Hmmm...well, this is certainly intriguing. I am beginning to feel a bit regretful about being in Canada at the moment, where I have little chance of ever seeing Spot play music or dance, I suppose...

Les- your middle name's quite a popular one here too!

The first time I heard I heard the melodious howling of Spot on Paltalk, I thought it was a shame he wasn't really, really famous, because I would have liked to have heard him before that. The man...er, dog, has a Mastiff talent!

I AM rather distraught because he mentioned something about being married the other day...oh well.

Jeri.....take no notice of the man behind the curtain who said I was married....Don't look behind the curtain....

Jeri....I'm yours I'm Yours.....(should you want me to be that is)

Spot (the not very confident) Dog
