Well, that's probably what they would say if they ever actually showed up on Mudcat. (For those who don't know who Hiroshi and FastEddy are, ask Catspaw.)

CJ and Ron are two of my best friends for years who are now living in Redington Beach, FL. I recently was there and showed them Mudcat, and CJ said "why would we talk there? Wouldn't e-mail be a better way of communicating?" Both of these two are big Blues Fans, though not musicians, and both have the gift of gab, so I'm hoping to make them regulars.

SO...please welcome them and, if you can, complete in ten words or less the phrase "Mudcat is better than e-mail because..." A Peruvian Nose Flute goes to the winner.

Mudcat does not clog your inbox? Mudcat is easier to search through than your email? It saves space on your hard drive? Spaw won't have your email address?

I want that nose flute sent to spaw....

Well, I am disappointed, let me tell you, Mr. Smarty-Pants, Blondie-reel-'em-in-with-a-facetious-thread-title! I was looking for Fast Eddy and Hiroshi!!

Email is so one on one...great if you are into a steady diet, actually just fine, BUT the Mudcat is a smorgasbord of diversity, erudite emissives, pulchritudinous platitudes, pusilanamous a nony mice, and so much more from which to learn! Besides which, you, Ron & CJ, might find out why we sometimes call your friend, LeeJ, "Blondie!"

There is also no rule which says you can't have email without Mudcat or vice versa. In fact you may find yourselves staying up late at night exchanging a flurry of emails and a passle of PM's about the latest goings on at the Mudcat; who said what to whom, and why, and how you plan to respond and help plot out the next adventure at the Mudcat Tavern and, yes, even how to capo something without meaning to take its head off!

So join up, willya? Then LeeJ can quit looking for excuses as to why he spends so much time here!**BG**

Oh...luvyaBlondie!...kat

Ten words or less, Katlaughing!? LOL.

Good answer. Looks like a nose-flute-quality entry.

Right then...................

First, only 'Catters may have reserved bedspace at the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed.

You can get porno by e-mail, but only here can you get the continuing saga of Paw, Cletus, Buford, and the Reg Boys.

You can get replies to any question within hours, minutes even. And you can get hundreds of replies to even the silliest question you can think of. As a matter of fact, you can get hundreds of postings to a thread titled, "Don't Post To This Thread."

Where else, and sertainly not through e-mail, can you follow the cases of the detective who inspired Mickey Spillane, the brilliant Blake Madison.

Have you ever gotten an e-mail from a college professor and environmentalist of some renown who can wax poetic about a chance encounter with a heron dressed as Waylon Jennings?

Your e-mail cannot bring you the continuing saga of a thong wearing Mick name of Mick, pursuing an Irish lass now a Sheila, while stuffing his thong with spuds....in the back.

Welcome to the 'Cat..............

Spaw

Dear Mudcatters.

I have asked a friend with better English to post this because the last time I tried to set the record straight, some smart guy made fun of my "Rs".

Yes I exist. I was not made up by Mr. Catspaw. I live in Nagasaki with my wife Yoko San, and two children Chang and Eng. I love Country Music, and I know quite bit about Mudcat. I know that Mr. Lonesome EJ owns the Radio Shack Company, and all I can say is that in my country, an executive with that much power and respect would not make fun of someone's name.

I know that Joe Offer has received so much honor at Mudcat that when I think of him, the phrase "Honor and Offer" immediately come to mind. His wife is a lucky woman.

Ms. Katlaughing has a beautiful name. I'm not able to use Japanese characters on this keyboard, but in my country you'd be called "Yo Mama San" which roughly translated means: "Mountain Godess with friendly beaver"

I do not know you well yet "Amergin", but I assume your "handle" means that you are from The United States and drink Gin. I often mix it with a little Saki.

So please, fellow Mudcatters, now that I have tried to get to know you better, do not make me feel like the figment of a very disturbed man's imagination.

Yours Folkily

Hiroshi Orguru.

Dear Mr. Ej. may I just call you "Lonesome"?

I fear I've been misunderstood again. It is the curse of my people. Perhaps my friend has not translated my message properly, for although to make you smile, brings lotus blossoms to my life, to have you find me "funny" could make me as sad as Ms. Fly.

I will try once more.

Mr. Catspaw has been very truthful with me in his many e-mails and although he is a troubled man (Wako-San, in my tongue) I understand that being the CEO of Mudcat Inc. can affect one's regularity. I am a man, just like you, Joe Offer, Carol C, and Amergin, the drinker. I love the American folk Music by great artists like Bobby Goldsboro (his Honey made me cry) and Neil Young. His song about American Farm troubles (The needle and the damaged Dung) is surely a classic. I am not what some of the Mudcatters would call a "traddie Laddie", for I also love artists like the late Al Jolson. His song about meeting one of my country's most reverered Captains' of industry (Climb up on my knee Sony Boy) spurred many a worker to double their morning output of push-ups.

So you see Lonesome, may I call you "Some"? I ask only to be taken seriously.

Hiroshi

P.S. How 'bout d'ose Bums! You see, I'm a baseball fan as well.

Hey Hiroshi - welcome! Are you the same guy as Hiroshi Ogura? The grad student at the University of Arizona with this web page with a link to the DT on it? Anybody who has links to both the DT AND "News of the Weird" is OK in my book.

Thought I should just mention you were spelling your name wrong.

After reading the previous posts in this thread it occurs to me that if Ron & CJ lay even a small claim to being normal they would both run like hell for the nearest exit. But if they are like the rest of us candidates for the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed they would find themselves right at home, as do we.

Jeri, are you certain that Hiroshi is spelling his/her name wrong? Or could it be that the Japanese have a thing about gender in their grammar as do the Spanish speaking folk? ie: el nino=boy and la nina=girl...That could make Ogura the boy and Oguru the girl.

Keep in mind, Ron & CJ, that posting here does not automaticaly give you privileges at the NYCFTTS, those must be earned...however a bed with your name is automaticaly reserved because sooner or later you will need it.

Remember the famous words of Oguru-sans coutryman, a Mr. Confucious (who may have been one of the first Mudcatters, except we Anglicised his name to Confused One)...'The trip of a thousand whatevers starts with a single lotus blossom, properly dried, cut, rolled and smoked, of course'

Well, right now I'd have to say Hiroshi Himself has most clearly demonstrated the advantage of the Mudcat over e-mail and other sensible mediums of communication. Where should I send the nose-flute, Hirosh?

Hiroshi, Carol C is NOT a guy! Trust me.

"Just passin'" Yeah, threads like these are tension breakers when we've exhausted all our energy debating on whether Riley Puckett used a thumbpick or a fingerpick.

Welcome Ron a Cj. And I have no idea whether Mudcat is better than e-mail. I DO know it's better than television though.

Rick
