Subject: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Lonesome EJ Date: 14 Apr 01 - 08:04 PM They move mysteriously and quietly within the Mudcat. Those songs that are posted with no line breaks. Those bold song titles that bleed into the body of the post. They are there one minute, gone the next. The only evidence these enigmatic beings were there at all; a small, blue comment line. They live and work among us, but are somehow different, dimly perceived, arcane. Some of those familiar to us, who were once just plain "Catters" have joined their ranks through some initiation rite they are pledged in blood not to reveal: Katlaughing. Jon Freeman. And others. They are Max's unseen henchmen, the good elves of the Forum, the quitely powerful thread-mechanics who alter this cyber world of ours. They are The Joe-Clones ! |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Morticia Date: 14 Apr 01 - 08:19 PM I think Sorcha is one of their arcane number as well.....doing the tune to the TWilight Zone here.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: wysiwyg Date: 14 Apr 01 - 08:35 PM No, no, no... they are a retro 50's group quietly planning a takeover. You know. The ones you see at Gatherings with duck-ass haircuts (if women) and poodle skirts (if men). ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Little Neophyte Date: 14 Apr 01 - 08:37 PM I think of them as Joe's Little Angels :) |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: death by whisky Date: 14 Apr 01 - 08:44 PM I haven't a clue |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: MMario Date: 14 Apr 01 - 08:46 PM I just appreciate them and the work they do. And I appreciate also that they (while not hiding whom they are) operate "behind the scenes" quietly and efficiently - unlike on some forums/newsgroups where those who can edit, constantly and publicly correct, nitpick and control, while complaining about all the extra work this causes them. |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Sorcha Date: 14 Apr 01 - 09:00 PM Sorry, wrong guess. I am not a JoeClone. I still have little juvenile fits of temper, and can't be trusted with an Edit button yet. (grin--I don't mean that to sound snotty or envious, it's just true!) |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: mousethief Date: 14 Apr 01 - 09:01 PM Perhaps they prefer to do their work anonymously, that their reward might be greater in heaven. Alex |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Naemanson Date: 14 Apr 01 - 11:47 PM Mysterious marauders at midnight they stalk the errors made in the threads and correct the little and the great misdeeds of others. They are the JoeClones and their deeds are legendary. Thanks to all of you. I only know of three, counting Joe. |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Bert Date: 14 Apr 01 - 11:55 PM Well I'm one ov 'em. Didn't wanna be but when I went to worlk for Max I got lumbered with the job. I don't always do it too well and sometimes step in when I shouldn't. Fortunately, Joe and my friend kat are always there to jump on me when I get out of line. Sometimes I'll sneak in and fix a typo without saying anything. If you have any complaints, I'm bert@mudcat.org |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Gypsy Date: 15 Apr 01 - 12:22 AM They are, the Joe Clones, and no one could be prouder! And if ya don't believe it....... |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Joe Offer Date: 15 Apr 01 - 03:26 AM You know, they even look like me now. Katlaughing objected when we required her to grow a beard and make a bald spot on top of her head, but she went along with it eventually and has been a pretty good sport about it. When Max created the clones, we decided that they'd be anonymous until they were found out. We though it would be kind of fun to have an air of mystery about it, and to keep people guessing. There are other JoeClones, but I think I'd like to keep you guessing about their identity. I think it's interesting that nobody has mentioned a tech whiz who is very obviously a JoeClone (and she's a great singer, too). -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Little Neophyte Date: 15 Apr 01 - 08:24 AM Joe, maybe Max could manufacture a Joe Clone Doll to raise funds for the Mudcat. It could be designed to look like you, get the head on a coil so it bobs to music on the stereo and when you squeeze the doll it says "Click Here" I think the Joe Clone Doll would be a great hit amongst the members. Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 15 Apr 01 - 09:10 AM What happened to Pene Azul, who was hugely informative about tekkie matters and songs alike, apart from being the proud owner of that magical name? Or do I have to be out before dawn, with a telephoto lens, to glimpse a specimen like this? |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: catspaw49 Date: 15 Apr 01 - 09:20 AM Joe refers to Jeri and she deserves credit on all counts. Spaw (and where IS Pene anyway???) |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Bernard Date: 15 Apr 01 - 11:24 AM Why stop at a JoeClone doll? The Spaw doll (okay, I don't need to tell you what that would do!), a dual purpose doll which could be either me or Micca (separated at birth?), and a wind-up GUEST doll which turns into a troll!

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: CamiSu Date: 15 Apr 01 - 02:59 PM Yeah, but Jeri doesn't look at ALL like Joe! And din't we have a thread about this a while back? I'm sure I wasn't dreaming! CamiSu |

Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Sorcha Date: 15 Apr 01 - 04:25 PM I love the idea of dolls!! Then we could stick pins in our UnFavorites, and set up altars and icons to our Faves, oh, and the wind ups that turn into Trolls is GREAT!! Come on, Max, you could make a mint here, just making Internet Troll Dolls........oh dear, my sides hurt. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Amergin Date: 15 Apr 01 - 04:26 PM yeah I could use some more additions to my collection....my Sorcha Voodoo doll could use the company.... |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: kytrad (Jean Ritchie) Date: 15 Apr 01 - 04:39 PM Maybe it should say, "Cookies, anyone?" instead of "Click Here..." or perhaps both... So it's Jeri; I was guessing Alice. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Who are The Joe-Clones? From: Sorcha Date: 15 Apr 01 - 04:47 PM 'Gin, you got a Sorcha voodoo doll?? Where did you get it? My husband would pay BIG BUCKS for that baby!!!I can think of several good ones--squeeze this one and it whines, another one will say "Music, people, Music!". Several could say "Peace, Man". kat's could say "Meow!"
InObu--"Sorcha Dorcha Live!" Oh dear, this could get either really funny, or really nasty. Let's keep it funny, OK????? |
