Must...resist...guilt! I'm sorry to start a whole new thread, but I just had to share. Especially since this means I can get a fabulous new job that actually pays DECENT MONEY! so I can save up and actually record a demo tape and maybe, just maybe, start being as motivated about this music thing as I should be... 30 more days! Zippedy-doo-dah! I can't believe it...someone pinch me! er, wait, on second thought...*turning around and smacking Amergin* Nice try. Wear quieter shoes next time. *grin* M |

Thanks for all the support, you guys! :) I'm enrolled with a pretty good staffing agency which shouldn't have too much trouble finding me something (according to my contact there, my skills are definitely up to par with what she can easily place :D). And I think, if I try to be judicious with my finances (yeah, right *grin*) that even if I don't get another job immediately, I'll be okay for at least a month. And there's always temp work--blecch, but it's flexible and will do until something more attractive comes along. And then, I can always sing in the streets ;) I'm really grateful for all the kind wishes. Now I know why I love the Mudcat! Mollywog |

From: harpmolly Date: 03 May 01 - 05:54 PM To be entirely fair, this isn't exactly the job from hell--it's a non-profit community center, which means that there are some advantages in terms of being surrounded by people who are in it for love of community, not money. However, it IS a non-profit--constantly over budget, underfunded, understaffed, and disorganized--and I'm under a lot of low-grade stress every day, which really adds up. The few personality conflicts I have encountered have just added to that stress. I guess I've finally decided that it's okay for me to say, "I really need to be making more money now, to invest in my future goals." The hardest part has been trying not to feel like I'm selling my soul to the devil--abandoning the non-profit world for something that pays better. I just need to remember that it's my life, and I don't owe anyone anything. My housemate still works here (or will when she gets back from her six-month umiak expedition!) and I've made lots of friends here, so I'm sure it'll continue to be a part of my life. But I'm just ready to move on. Thanks again for all the encouragement! Onward and upward! Moll |
