Subject: Help! Chords - Why Can't He Be You? From: Peter T. Date: 27 May 01 - 04:19 PM Help, Patsy Cline aficionados -- I actually have the sheet music to this classic ditty, but as usual am stumped by one of the changes. To tell the truth, I am doing this in open D on the guitar, because I am perverse. Anyway, in the original (in G) it goes:
[G] He takes me to, the places [Gmaj7] and [Am7] I used to go [D7], He tells me over [Am7] and over [D7] that he loves me so [G], He gives me love, that [G7] I never got from you [C] he loves me too [???] his love is true [????][G?] Why can't [D7] he be you [G]. |

Subject: RE: Help! Chords - Why Can't He Be You? From: Peter T. Date: 27 May 01 - 05:02 PM Nope. Bad as getting to Shangri-La. I think maybe the passage should go: I never got from you [C] he loves me too [G] his love is true [C] Why [Am7] can't [D7] he be you [G]. The sheet music seems to have it exactly backwards. yours, Peter T. |
