Subject: RE: Lyr Add: They Sent A Wumman (for Murray) From: Murray MacLeod Date: 04 Jun 01 - 12:44 PM Thank you for these lyrics Susanne. I am going to try this out next weekend. I hope it is comprehendible (is that a real word?) by Americans. Just one small query. Are you sure the line "The next Ah kent that Ah was in the midden" is correct? My memory is of Nancy singing "The next thing Ah kent Ah was in the midden". However my memory is far from infallible. And the Macs may have altered the line. As far as I know she is well. I haven't talked to her since I emigrated but will call her this week and PM you any news. Thanks again Murray |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: They Sent A Wumman (for Murray) From: Susanne (skw) Date: 04 Jun 01 - 04:38 PM Murray, the line is 'The next Ah kent was Ah was in the midden'. My mistake. I had to listen again for the Macs clean forgot to put that verse in the booklet at all! If you contact Nancy, please give her my regards. She doesn't know my name but she may remember a Saturday afternoon gig in the Scotia in Glasgow with a lively crowd in the background and only three people really listening - one of whom was yrs truly. Also, a call from Blackfriars Shop in Edinburgh because a customer had asked about a tape by Nancy due to come out soon. I remember she said about that call, This makes me feel really famous! - but I'm still waiting for that tape, hopefully including a version of 'Up the close and doon the stair, through the town (?) with Burke and Hare'. Can't find ANY recording of that song! Apologies for thread creep again! |
