Subject: RE: What is your definition of 'large'? From: MMario Date: 07 Jun 01 - 02:44 PM just a piece of thread drift - there are actual sizes of eggs below "medium" - in fact you used to be able to get them especially around Easter - however, it is my understanding they get more for them now selling them for processed eggs - so they no longer market them retail. but I agree about men's sizes. and since I am "big and tall" from the waist *up* but "even bigger and short" from the waist *down* it gets very frustrating... I am constantly being told I am over 6 foot (I'm not) - and I know people who are 8 to 9 inches shorter then I am who have longer inseams. |
Subject: RE: What is your definition of 'large'? From: Kim C Date: 07 Jun 01 - 02:36 PM Wincing Devil, clothing sizes are terminally screwed anyway.I think they vary from year to year with the fashion. Sometimes Large is large, and sometimes it isn't. Mister is tall, but not big, and he sometimes has challenges finding sleeves long enough. Trousers that are long enough often are too large in the waist for him. And lots of times women's dresses are made for Barbie - large boobs and no hips. -sigh- |
Subject: RE: What is your definition of 'large'? From: Wincing Devil Date: 07 Jun 01 - 02:05 PM <soapbox> Speaking as a "person of size", I'm getting really ticked off about Men's clothing sizes. They think men want to be thought of as bigger than they are, so what used to be XL is now billed as XXL, and the so called "Big and Tall" stores that should be "Big OR Tall". Those of us that are both Big AND Tall are screwed. </soapbox>

Subject: RE: What is your definition of 'large'? From: Jim the Bart Date: 06 Jun 01 - 10:26 AM Watching the Tonight Show last night I saw Blues Traveller, whose harmonica player/singer, John Popper, has always been a truly LARGE MAN. It looked like he had lost a lot of weight and in the interview, he said he had lost 186 pounds, down from 420 at one point. Working it out in my fevered little brain, I figured out that he was still bigger than me, and he didn't look all that big at all anymore. So, I guess I stand with Roger the Skiffler - large is bigger than me! |

Subject: RE: What is your definition of 'large'? From: Pseudolus Date: 06 Jun 01 - 08:50 AM Last night at a softball game (my oldest daughters team) I found the definition of large. One of my daughters teammates whose name is Kathleen is the second smallest kid on the team. When she runs she keeps her finger in the hole of the helmet to keep it from falling off. At the first practice they took her to the outfield to get extra batting practice and hit the ball probably twice on about 60 pitches. Thus went the season, either striking out or walking but always participating. Last night in her first at bat, she hit the ball solid and ran to first, finger in the helmet hole, for a single....yay! Next time up she hits the ball solidly again, and because of some questionable fielding reaches second base. Single and an error? No way, this is Kathleen, we're scoring it a double, her first of the year!! After striking out on the next at bat, we thought the streak was over, but no, she hits the ball on her fourth trip, screaming over the pitchers head, over second base, rolling past the centerfielder for an absolutely perfect double, her second of the game and third hit altogether. She also scored twice and stole a base. If there was an award, she would have clearly been the MVP of the game. Kathleen definitely played LARGE last night.....!!!! Frank |
