Subject: Lyr Add: WHISTLING GYPSY ROVER^^^ From: MudGuard Date: 17 Jun 01 - 04:41 AM Is this the one?
Whistling Gypsy RoverThe gypsy rover came over the hill,Down through the valley so shady, He whistled and he sang Till the green woods rang, And he won the heart of a lady. ChorusA-dee-do a-dee-do dow-day,Her left her father's castle gate, She left her fair young lover; She left her servants and her state To follow the gypsy rover. Her father saddled up his fastest steed He ranged the valleys over He sought his daughter at great speed And the whistling gypsy rover. But he came at last to a mansion fine Down by the river so shady And there was music and there was wine Well, the gypsy had his lady He is no gypsy father dear He is lord of these lands all over And I'm going to stay to my dying day With my whistling gypsy rover. ^^^ (click) |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Gypsy`s Whistling Rover From: Snuffy Date: 17 Jun 01 - 08:08 AM Probably not the one you want, but THE HIPPIES AND THE BEATNIKS by Miles Wooten, is in the Digital Tradition. That is a parody of the Wraggle-Taggle Gypsies, which is of course a close relative of the Gypsy Rover WassaiL! V |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Gypsy`s Whistling Rover From: Son of the Mill Date: 20 Jun 01 - 03:39 PM Thanks for that but these are not the ones I am looking for. It is a parody of the Whistling Gypsy. Instead of riding a horse he is driving a Rover car & her father is driving a Mk 10 Jaguar car. The tune is the same as The Whistling Gypsy. Cheers. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Gypsy`s Whistling Rover From: Gary T Date: 28 Jun 01 - 07:46 PM Sorry know one yet seems to know this one, FAWLAKS, but here's a thought. Go to www.google.com and type in all the lines to the song that you know. If it's posted on the internet somewhere, it should come up. Hope that helps. |
