I've known TNDARLN for 5 or 6 years now. We met on a mailing list when sorting out certain interesting Biblical passages having to do with peas on earth, world peas, and pea pickin'

From the right side of GA, TNDARLN is an autoharp player, gospel & Sacred Harp singer. TNDARLN's knowledge on these last two runs rings around what I know.

Say hi! And do come join us for some Sacred Harp singing in Alabama this month.

Well, thank ya', Burke, for the mighty kind words; but it's the right side of TN, otherwise I'd be GADARLN

'Just returned from the Mountain Laurel Autoharp Gathering, and where I was pressed [in a kindly way]into teaching a soapbox workshop on Sacred Harp singing Saturday. We had 30 folks show [and I didn't even sign up 'til an hour before it was to start, 'cause I didn't think anyone'd be interested!], and were singing New Britain in four parts w/in 30 minutes. Talented folks, them. Did a repeat on Sunday at noon [think lunchtime] and had 16 more come. Made missin' Henagar-Union a trifle easier to take...

'probably oughta' do a report! Peas, T

Welcome, TNDARLN! You know the recipe for whirled peas then? It's something that a lot of us would like to know...

BURKE! Now look what you've done!

Did I mention that the gospel singing at MLAG was incredible!!??

Thanks for the welcome, Noreen. Actually, the recipe for whirled peas can be found in John 3:16, as given by the Prince of [here it comes] Peas. [nothing sacriligeous about it: I have personal knowledge that He has a great sense of humor!]

WHIRLED PEAS

12 0z. package frozen petit pois~thawed
1 cup chicken stock
heavy cream (I use about a cup)
seasonings to taste

Using a food processor whirl peas with stock until smooth. Thin with cream to desired texture. Season with salt, pepper (I add ginger, garlic and lime- they weren't in the original recipe). Serve chilled as a soup.

Darln, I know where you live ;-) I just thought you spell that state with Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis in it Georgia; but you pronounce it ten-is-see.

Welcome to the 'Cat TNDARLN..........I was reading the posts of the ML fest awhile ago and remembering what a fine place that is. Sorry to see it move, but I've got confidence a new location won't change the spirit of the event.

AS to this joint, we're happy to have you. Lots of friendly, knowledgeable, intelligent, kind and caring folk to be found in this little village. As the most prolific poster in the place, I am forced to add that I'm not one of them, but if you'll hang around they WILL show up!

Spaw

Hi TNDARLN,

The right side of Tn? We're from the left side of Georgia, so I guess we're neighbors. My wife is from Copperhill Tn. which I think means you're sisters or cousins. She plays guitar and whistle (a little) and I play old time banjo and autoharp (a little). Good to have you around.

Chip & Tish, TNDARLN & I are in the middle of making plans to go to a couple of Sacred Harp conventions July 28 & 29. One is near Douglas, AL & the second near Henagar. They are going to be very good. Let us know if you'd like to come to one or both.

B.

Thank you all again for your hospitality!

Spaw- can't help but notice all the well wishes/prayers for your recovery: that speaks well of you and of Mudcat. Let me add mine as well.

Chip and Tish, come on over- we'll go fasola! And our dulcimer/autoharp group meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Ev'ryone have a Great Fourth! T
