Tried Google, but no lyrics seem to be available. Could contact organiser of this Debby McClatchy fan site perhaps?

Noreen

Thanks for the suggestion - but no joy on Debby Mclatchy site she lists titles but not lyrics.

Even if no-one has the lyrics yet it takes an offensive thread one more slot down the list.

Too true Jude! I love that song but its not one I've sorted words for. We do have the album somewhere so if I can I'll check and see if there are lyrics on the sleeve notes.

I'm sure this has been asked for in a previous thread ... in fact putting "Apples in Winter" in the forum box brings up two threads but I can't read them as Shorty is not working for me at the moment ...someone else may have more luck

I thought so too, but looks like we are wrong. What did come up was a request for another DM song--Hills of Kentucky and Mrs. Duck said it was on the album "Apples in Winter". That was all I found.

Hazel, I think this *is* the previous thread, that Jude has revived.

From what I remember the threads brought up by a search mention 'Apples in Winter' as an album title, but I can't access them atm either.

Here you go. Can't agree that it is one of her better efforts - looks like adolescent fluff to me. The tune is quite nice though. The Debby McClatchy and Red Clay Ramblers album has been reissued recently on CD - Trails End CD 2001 - but none of my suppliers here in Oz has been able to track it down for me.

APPLES IN WINTER
(Debby McClatchy)

His love for me then
Like apples in winter
So sweet to my lips
Yet hard to find

We walked down the beach
Towards the lights of the city
Leaving the rest so far behind
We stopped at the cove
We had once found together
It was ours, for ourselves,
With none to see

And his love for me then
Like apples in winter
So sweet to my lips
Yet hard to find

The mists of the night
They covered the coastline
The sound of the surf pounding below
And out in the dark
The big lights of the city
Giving the night a reddish glow
And I held him then
And I know in that moment
That this was the way it all should be

For his love for me then
Like apples in winter
So sweet to my lips
Yet hard to find

His love for me now
Like peaches in autumn
Full, soft and warm
And heavy sweet
I lay (sic) on the beach
And I bathe in the sunlight
My mind at ease, my comfort complete
And I now watch that man
Who once was that boy
And I know I have done the right thing

For his love for me then
Like apples in winter
So sweet to my lips
Yet hard to find
To my lips

Very, very good, Stewie!! I looked all over for it. Did you transcribe it or find it?

Hi Sorcha, I transcribed it. Unfortunately, there was no lyric sheet with the album.
