Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Blackwaterside (Bert Jansch V From: Grab Date: 13 Jul 01 - 01:39 PM Nutty, since they've been written inside the last 70 years by a professional musician, they are unlikely to be featured in a collection of public domain tunes. Graham. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Blackwaterside (Bert Jansch V From: CraigS Date: 13 Jul 01 - 03:45 PM I don't have time to look out the record and write the tab out for Black Water Side, but I can say that it is a traditional song, not written by Bert Jansch, and I think that Bert played it in a drop D (ie. dadgbe) tuning. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Blackwaterside (Bert Jansch) From: Nick Date: 22 Jul 06 - 05:14 AM I think it is likely in DADGAD Led Zeppelin did a version very much based on Bert Jansch's on Led Zeppelin I and that is definitely in DADGAD. The following is a very rough approximation of something like the main theme and beginning of the tune - there are probably lots of extra notes thrown in and open strings hit during it but the bones are there I think

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Blackwaterside (Bert Jansch) From: GUEST,rod cameron Date: 29 Mar 10 - 09:18 PM Bert's version is definitely in DADGAD. I have been singing it for fifty years and it is an old traditional Irish song. Bert and I are from the same city ... Glasgow. He went south to England in his teens and lost his Glasgow brogue and not speaks with an english dialect. Davy Graham started the folk baroque sound, wonderful splashy steel strings that sometime slapped against the fingerboard for a percussive effect. Independently Bert Jansch and John Renburn played wonderfully in that style, and also played as a duo. John is settled in Scotland in the Borders and close to another friend, Archie Fisher. Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Blackwaterside (Bert Jansch) From: GUEST Date: 29 Nov 10 - 02:33 PM Actually the video on youtube of Bert playing this song is definitely in drop D tuning, capo-ed at either the 2nd or 3rd fret. 3rd fret to match the video. Watch the chord forms in the video, they do not work in DADGAD. I learned a DADGAD version and it sounds nothing like his. As a matter of fact, I haven't heard two versions by Bert that sound alike, so there ya go! |
