You've inquired about the training? You jumped with taking the instructions first? AAAGGHHHHH!

Congratulations on surviving and enjoying the thrill. Please take the training before you do it again.

Where are you? In NYS and NJ at least, you can't jump without completing some basic training.

Bungee Jumping next? Over water or desert?

Sinsull, she did a tamdem jump which means she was linked to an experienced instructor. My son also did a jump like that. No need for other than a brief instruction session just prior to the jump. For solo jumping however, proper training is required.

Sinsull I'm in England, even with the brief instructions and being strapped to the instructor doesn't make you feel any different aboouut going out of the perfectly good plane 12,000 ft, next one 15,000 ft, then hopefully the training, max you can jump static line is 5,000ft.

It didn't cure my absolute fear of heights though, still you only get one life, so enjoy to the fullest is my motto

I'm not sure if heights and altitude are the same. I don't like heights, but have no problem getting on an airplane. Heights to me is being up on a tall ladder or standing on the balcony of a tall building, that makes me nervous.

I'm not sure either about heights and altitude being the same. I can't look over the side of a cliff of look down from a balcony of a tall building, even going up a few steps on a ladder scares thye s..t out of me butlooking out of the window of an airplane is no problem, BUT looking of of the open door of one IS a problem, still I must do it again without a doubt. Bungee jumping!I don't think so..... that a different ball game altogether, thou you never know.

Agreed, rockchick. I cured my sudden onset of "fear of flying" by taking lessons in a single engine Cessna. My one flirtation with sky diving involved going up in a gutted plane wearing a parachute just to see how it was done. It was my job to hang out over eternity and close the door after the rest had jumped. Then an instant drop from 1500 feet to the ground - they save fuel that way. Haven't been up since.

When I am thin enough to admit my weight, I will try bungee jumping. For now it is life threatening to own to 105# when I am not.
Go for it!

That was 15000'. 1500 and we would have hit the ground nose first. I did admire those handsome young men in jumpsuits color-coordinated to their parachutes. A little fussy, maybe but very romantic. I suspect that BillD and Don Firth don't always match their socks!

Where are the pictures, RC?

Sinsull, pictures will be on there way, have to go to the office (UGH!!) to scan them. The G force smile is rather strange!!

Just trying to make my mind up whether to do fast track training, bit expensive have to pay in one lump (large lump) or the slower way which is less expensive, still it is going happen one way or tuther.

Subject: Lyr Add: DAY I JUMPED FROM UNCLE HARVEY'S PLANE
From: GUEST,Gene
Date: 07 Aug 01 - 12:31 AM

When I saw this post it reminded me of this Jimmy Dean Classic!

The Day I Jumped From Uncle Harvey's Plane
Recorded by Jimmy Dean

Me and Oliver and Virgil
Was down at the drugstore, killin' time
When my eye fell upon this magazine

And I got to readin' this article
About sky divin' and parachutes
And I said: jumpin' out-a airplanes - that's the thing

Now bein' raised out on the farm
And always ready for adventure,
I knew that I could figure out a way

Well, Uh! Delmer Gill's got a parachute
Uncle Harvey's got a plane
So I said: call the boys together, today's the day

Now I found out too late
That what Uncle Harvey called an airplane
Wasn't really nothin' but an engine and a wing

And I could feel my fear a-risin'
As Delmer packed up my parachute
But he kept on tellin' me oh, you're doin' the right thing

Ron McGlocklin shook my hand
And he strapped me in the harness
And Tilman brought a jug to pass around

Well I took one look at that parachute
And the whiskey and that airplane
And I turned that bottle up and drank it down

Oh, I was drunker'n Cooter Jones
When they poured me in the plane
And that old engine coughed and we headed for the clouds

Boy, I was sober as a judge When Harvey opened up that door
And I ain't never heard my heart beat quite so loud

I said: Harvey, I can't do it
But he kicked me out the door
But I wrapped my hands around the landin' gear

And I was holdin' on purty good
And Harvey stomped on my fingers
And Virgil said he heard me scream from way down there

I thanked God and Delmer Gill
When that parachute finally opened
And I said: well, hell! there ain't no use to be afraid

Then I went crashin' thru the henhouse
Scatterin' chickens and breakin' eggs
And I kissed the ground and fainted dead away

Now friends, I've fought some battles
I've been shot at once or twice
And I damned near got run over by a train

But in my whole born put-to-gethers
I ain't never been as scared
As the day I jumped from Uncle Harvey's plane

Abseiling, sounds like another challange to me.

Let me know when and where and I'll be there, sounds like the start of a song to me!
