Gene Clark was a very underated song writer and musician. He started out as a folksinger and flourished into one of the most talented musicians and songwriters of the last 25 years. Some of his Acoustic songs that standout are "She Don't care about time" (Roadmaster) "My Marie" from High Flying Byrd,"DelGato","Gypsy Rider" from So Rebellious A Lover with Carla Olson. Also from TwoSides to Every Story "Hear the Wind" and from White Light " Spanish Guitar" "With Tommorro" and many others. If you listen to his songs they real deep into your being right down to your soul. Great Stuff. It would be nice to hear from others on the same subject. Have a great day...............Kevin O'Keeffe

I had the honor of opening for Gene Clark and Roger McGuinn some years ago at a gig in Houston. They were a perfect team and sang and played flawlessly. Sounded like a full band was on stage, but it was just McGuinn on his electric Rickenbacker (sp?) and Clark on his acoustic Martin with some very fine harmonies. An evening I'll never forget.

Gene Clark was, indeed, the consummate musician, comfortable with all types of music. I never saw him perform with the Byrds or with Jim McGuinn, but I did see him play and sing with Douglas Dilliard after each of them had left their respective groups. Man, he gave bluegrass a different sound that I had never heard. I also have an album of the "Flying Burrito Brothers" somewhere -- I kinda remember him in that group also.
