...this didn't come up in the DT so sorry if I am just a poor searcher buuuuuuuttttt....
Wanda Degen has a brand new CD out called "Of Woods and Water: Songs of the Great Lakes Region". She sings it and mentions in the liner notes (or whatever they call those things now) that she first heard Art Thieme sing it at Walnut Valley.

I can't wait to hear this CD. The songs are mostly from the Great Lakes and she has pictures of the Porcupine Mountains on the cover with an insert picture of the Freighter Samuel Mather on the inside cover!!! My week is going to be perfect!!! Joy Joy Joy!!!!

Harpgirl, I stopped in to pick up Wanda's CD and was on my way out when Frog stopped me and wanted to know where we were playing. As we are standing there, in walks Wanda. She sees I have the CD and some good natured banter starts. She is still teaching at Elderly.

Great CD here, folks. I would recommend it. She mentions our own Art Thieme several times in the credits, and does several songs that she learned from his singing. I would recommend a listen to this CD.

All the best,

Mick

Amazing----I'll have to get in touch with Elderly too. I'd not known Wanda did these songs you've mentioned. It's always nice to know I've passed on a few songs. Thanks for the info.

Art

Hi. I am interested in obtaining the sheet music for the song 'The Manistee River'...if you could provide me with a copy of this song by email, so that we could perform it for our own enjoyment, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you, for your efforts. (:

I hadn't heard of this before. I love canoeing on the Manistee. I'll be heading for Elderly when I'm in Michigan for the Yuletime holidays. Harpgirl, how does one learn to like Florida?

Holiday Greetings to all... If anyone has a midi file (or ABC of this tune I would love to have it.

I was glad to see so many Michiganders hanging out.

(I wonder how many Mudcatters have passed within a couple of feet of each other without knowing it while visiting "folkie Mecca?")

Is Wanda pictured on the front of the new Elderly catalogue with everybody else?
