Subject: Deckman and Don Firth. Bravo and Thanks. From: Rick Fielding Date: 08 Sep 01 - 12:26 PM Guys, I don't know how to thank you for your contributions (especially during the last few weeks), so perhaps a simple acknowledgement will have to do. The recent MC silliness has been annoying and distracting, but your posts have kept me coming back every day. Bravo also to Sandy and Sourdough, for jumping in with their remembrances as well. To know that all these words are coming from people here, rather than "the net" is so gratifying. Thank you so much. Rick |
Subject: RE: Deckman and Don Firth. Bravo and Thanks. From: catspaw49 Date: 08 Sep 01 - 01:07 PM Well, I was going to jump on whoever started this thread because they left out Sourdough and Sandy, but I see Rick already corrected that error. To err is often smelly as Paw so often proves.......... I couldn't agree more though and I too have been reading those postings and enjoying every minute. I think there are a number of other threads that can be started out of them too. Perhaps what always makes me the happiest is reading history drom the personal perspective. Some of the best (and sometimes controversial) threads are those when the participants of an event and/or time tell their own stories. Reading a book or watching programs on the McCarthy Hearings and HUAC or the Vietnam War or even the fighting in Ireland is never as satisfying as hearing these things from the horse's mouth....so to speak. Refreshing the Lee Hays thread also reminded me of just how valuable so many are here...........So let me add my thanks to all of those who tell the tales from the lives they have lived and in this case an especisl thanks to Bob, Don, Sandy, and Sourdough. Subject: RE: Deckman and Don Firth. Bravo and Thanks. From: katlaughing Date: 08 Sep 01 - 02:40 PM Absolutely and also to Art Thieme. The postings of all mentioned are incomparable and sometimes it just seems like magic to be able to connect with such incredible people and the resources of their experiences and memories. A great big thanks to you all! luvyakat |
Subject: RE: Deckman and Don Firth. Bravo and Thanks. From: catspaw49 Date: 08 Sep 01 - 02:54 PM Aw crap.....Now I need to kick my own ass for forgetting Art, a very valuable contributor. I suppose I should go back and name some others, but let's just say "others"....some great posts and greater history, Spaw |
Subject: RE: Deckman and Don Firth. Bravo and Thanks. From: Gareth Date: 08 Sep 01 - 02:55 PM There is a difference between reading of the MCarthy era, and hereing the words and thoughts of those who were there. I find it humbling, and thank you all. Gareth |

Subject: RE: Deckman and Don Firth. Bravo and Thanks. From: Don Firth Date: 08 Sep 01 - 05:54 PM In the process of working for one's G.D. (Geezerhood Degree), it's necessary to go around the block a few times, and in the process you see quite a bit. Some of it you feel you really ought to share because you think it's important and people should know about it. It's really gratifying when you find others who think so too, and are interested in what you have to say. It is for us to thank you. What a great bunch of folks! Don Firth |

From: Metchosin Date: 09 Sep 01 - 03:19 AM WYSIWYG, perhaps accolades for Masato Sakurai should be posted on a separate thread rather than being buried in this one. The personal perspective really piqued my interest too people. One of the more interesting threads for me in quite some time. Thank you again. |
