Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: catspaw49 Date: 16 Sep 01 - 09:16 PM Thanks kat.....I had thought at one point this might be a good idea and I really appreciate the work you've done. It was one helluva' week and I believe we saw much of ourselves and in that case too, it was the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks for all the work!!! Spaw |

Fed up (Not by specific intent maybe but look at the posts.) Kat, thank you. I thought it was a long list but.... wow. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: katlaughing Date: 16 Sep 01 - 10:39 PM Thanks, Pat. Couldn't have done it without you doing such a fine job and everyone else, too. Thanks, Susan, I will add those when I alphabetise them all. And, thanks to Mary in KY for catching a wrong link to Part Six. I think I have it fixed now. All the best, kat |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 17 Sep 01 - 06:17 AM Wow! I thought there might be a few, but that is amazing. Though I suspect that one way and another the events have very likely come into a lot more threads than that even. For example when I posted this A song about bombs that was a response to what happened. And there are all kind of other threads with people saying thing like "in this terrible week" when the topic is not directly to do with it.
Thank you for doing this kat. As you said on one of those threads, this is a historic document. At no previous time could something like that have come into existence.
I just refreshed the last seven days - it's heartbreaking to scan up and see ordinary run of Mudcat threads suddenly get overwhelmed on White Tuesday as the whole world changes.

Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: wysiwyg Date: 17 Sep 01 - 09:08 AM Kat, Why We Sing II was refreshed for this and then posted to about this-- especially Mick's moving words. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 17 Sep 01 - 10:51 AM In a way the whole Mudcat for this week is coloured by it. Just about every thread. Just as has been true of every conversation I've had with anybody over the past week, out in the solid world. |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: katlaughing Date: 17 Sep 01 - 05:16 PM This isn't in one of our threads, but WyoWoman sent me the link and it is an incredible read. She things, as I do, that it should be required reading of all citizens. Stunning and chilling, here is a 1999 interview with bin Laden, which Esquire ahs put back up on the website in view of last week's attacks. Here ya go: bin Laden interview |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: wysiwyg Date: 18 Sep 01 - 11:45 PM (refreshing) Kat, a few more have been created in the last day or two but don't go too nuts looking for them all-- I think these are the historically relevant ones, you know-- right after the Event. I would highly recommend people bookmark this thread. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: Susan from California Date: 20 Sep 01 - 10:53 PM Thanks, Kat. I saw that some group in Berkley had put together a database compilation of the missing, and since the # jumped dramatically, I wondered if anyone knew of the site. I thought that I had bookmarked it, maybe on my school computer...I'm still checking the whereabouts of two friends from High School...If I find it , I'll cut & paste the web addy. |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: Susan from California Date: 20 Sep 01 - 10:58 PM OK, here's the address, http://do.millennium.berkeley.edu/ They do not have any info on the two I am looking for. :-( |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: katlaughing Date: 21 Sep 01 - 06:33 PM Sinsull, I am sorry, I've been on overload the past couple of days. If everyone would post a link in this thread, when they find one, I will get around to adding it to the list and alphabetise it. As usual for this kind of thread, I reserve the right to delete postings of links, once they've been added. Susan, I am sorry about your friends. I started a thread with that link, or put it in one where it got buried. I wrote to the student who put it together and suggested a compilation of links to sites which are promoting peace. I just got an email to say the student, Ka Ping Yee, had done so and invited me to add links if I felt they were appropriate, which I am sure any of us is welcome to do. That list is called "Opinions and Comments." Thanks, kat |

Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: Amos Date: 10 Sep 07 - 09:58 PM All those locally based links defeat Safari, because it doesn't automatically assume they are meant to point to the domain name they are found in. Maybe there's a preference or something I can change, but it would be nice if the full path link were used instead of the relative path. Can the missing part --http://www.mudcat.org/ -- be pasted into them for future ease of access? Thanks, Amos A |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: katlaughing Date: 10 Sep 07 - 11:41 PM Oops, looks as though I never alphabetised the links. Sorry about that. I can fix the links, but don't know if I will have the time this week. I'll try. Thanks. |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: katlaughing Date: 11 Sep 07 - 12:04 AM Amos, please check the links, if you don't mind. I've added "/www.mudcat.org/" to each one. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: Amos Date: 11 Sep 07 - 04:29 PM It amazes me, looking back at the shock and confusion of those hours, how clearly some of the consequent mayhem was predicted. It is really a surprising and interesting read to go back over those minutes when the awful story unfolded on us like a lead-foil sky. Whooof. Slam. It brings on faint twinges of nausea just to revisit the Cat threads about it; god knows what it is like for those whose hussbands never came home, or those who leapt to their deaths, or fell with the collapsing stairwells, trying now to figure out why the anniversdary is so depressing to them. And them, now, only 6. What a grim, fucking *(&*(*( of a day it was. A |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 12 Sep 07 - 04:56 PM It is pretty strange reading those threads. Very immediate. I think this thread deserves to be kept on the current forum for a few days. So: Refresh. |
Subject: RE: LINKS TO ALMOST ALL THREADS ON 9-11 From: katlaughing Date: 12 Sep 07 - 07:19 PM While it's kind of weird and good at the same time to read these, esp. because of the immediacy, I still wind up with tears streaming down my face. Not all of the tears are for that day and the lives lost; some are for the horrible situation we are now in with continued loss of lives all because of the idiot in office. |
