Subject: Can't stop my face from breaking out From: tpontz@ezonline.com Date: 11 Feb 98 - 01:20 PM Hey.. I heard an instrumental version of a real killer tune that was written by Elmore Liverlung Pablum Pud, and it's called 'They can lock me up in jail for loving you but they can't stop my face from breaking out'. I was wondering, has anyone else heard this?? I've been trying to find a recorded version anywhere but no luck. I just want to find anyone that does this tune... The version I heard was just instrumental and it was done by the Asphalt Jungle Mountain Boys (aka black mtn boys), which was Eric Thompson, David Nelson, and Jerry Garcia. If you know anything at all about this tune, email me at tpontz@ezonline.com.. Thanks and keep pickin'! |

Subject: RE: Can't stop my face from breaking out From: Charlie Baum Date: 11 Feb 98 - 09:01 PM I've never heard the song itself, but the title comes up in an old song introduction by singer-songwriter Bill Staines, who posits the existence of country-and-western hits, one with the above title, and also "I Tried to Write a Drinking Song, But I Couldn't Past the First Three Bars." The idea that someone has recorded such a tune seems like coming across a book by Kilgore Trout, a writer's name invented in the imagination of Kurt Vonnegut and later adopted as a nom de plume by someone else. But this sort of recycling is what traditional arts are all about, isn't it? |
