I know this is an old thread and I can't find much to back me up here, but personally I've always heard (and sung) the last line of the chorus as "my amour" and not "miami" or "my Emma". Not every sailor has an Emma (or a Miami), but all of them have amour - love.

Sorcha - thanks a million for the lyrics and the website, too! A note: although Johnny Collins sings this song, he says it is traditional with some added lyrics (not his). And MMario - the website for The Bilge Pumps is a hoot, so do try again to get in. I couldn't get in with the link, but got in right away with the old copy-and-paste routine in the address bar.

Sorcha - having heard Johnny sing this hundreds of times, I've been under the impression the last line of the chorus was:"My Emma, My Emma, Won't you be true to me".
