Hi Guys Kate and I are definately on for thursday. My computer blew up on Friday so I've had to come into work to get this message to you. We fly tomorrow arriving in NYC at about 1.30. On the off chance you're in Staten Island (yeah, right) Take the s78 bus to vanduzer, go to the Muddy Cup. They've got music every night, and good hot chocolate.

John got here unhurt, and we had a GREAT dinner last night, but, I will let him describe the evening as the guest, since we loud New Yorkers did SO much of the talking! Lovely fellow. It is funny that Mudcatters always seem like family when we meet. Cheers Larry

My computer is still dead. So two stolen minutes at work. We had a great dinner Larry,Genie, Sinsul and Steve turned out for the dinner which was great and yes it was just like being at a family gathering. What loverley people. Larry and Steve ended up doing a few tunes on the street afterwards in the middle of Hells Kitchen - Fabulous. More when I get my computer back. We love New York and next time I'm definately bringing my pipes.

Great dinner - great food and wonderful company. Kate and John amazed us with their whirlwind tour of NYC - nobody comes from Europe for a long weekend! The evening serenade on a street corner topped it off. Finally got to meet Steve Suffet who turned out to be the brother of a friend I have known for years - small world. Now for the bad news - the next day I gave in and went to a doctor about my perennial cold. It is strep - hope I haven't infected anyone. Just what a group of singers need. Sorry.

Yup... the dinner was absoultly magic. Genie and I were saying how often folks we meet from mudcat or just "our kind of folks" in the best way. Steve and I had a good talk about the real need to create new folk venues in New York, John and Kate were wonderful and increased our limited knowlege of Hull, which seems to have a much more organised folk sceene than NYC... and John and I found we have a few hobbies in common, lots more likely but the evening went far to quickly.
With eight million New Yorkers though, we have to do better about creating a folk scene that is welcoming and can pay the bills. So, perhaps Mudcat and Mudcat visits are a good organising start.
