Subject: Link: Oddments of American Music From: Jim Dixon Date: 19 Nov 01 - 02:07 PM I just wanted to let you know about this cool website I found: Oddments of American Music, wherein the author has taken several familiar American songs and traced them back through several versions, sometimes to old sheet music, sometimes to broadsides. Particularly interesting are a 1917 editorial denouncing "Jass" (jazz) as a "musical vice" (Right here in River City!) and scarier directive written by the Nazi Party in 1938. |

Subject: RE: Link: Oddments of American Music From: wysiwyg Date: 19 Nov 01 - 02:36 PM No, Mrrzy, but we have a LINKS section where people can post (and maintain) links, and from which one can click to bookmark items right onto one's personal page. ~Susan |

Subject: Posting Links From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Nov 01 - 05:06 PM When there are large numbers of links on a single subject, it's best not to put them on our "links" page. PermaThreads usually work better for that sort of thing. I've moved most of the instrument-related, festival, and performer links to appropriate PermaThreads. Our Links page is the perfect place for links like this one. I added this one to the Links page, but all registered Mudcatters are able to add links. (But like I said, if you have a large volume of links, please don't put them on the links page. Moving links is a difficult process.) -Joe Offer- |
