One final footnote, the name of the tall ship Talitha was working on at the time was the Young America. And at the end of the song, it is appropriate for a member of the chorus to shout "Vast heavin'!"

Success! Here is Talitha's response to my inquiry:

Yes, I am the composer of "Dramamine" (or one of the composers--the tune is traditional, based on "Whup Jamboree", and I had some help on the chorus from the bosun, Dave Bell). I've registered the song with BMI (© Talitha Music Publishing, 1980), so all standard royalty rates apply.

Where did you learn the song and what words do you have for it? Glad to hear that you enjoy it. Please give my warm regards to John & Barry when you next see them, and say "Thank you" from me for putting you in contact.

no travel plans at present Barry. I left regards to you at the Boston sessions thread which I refreshed a couple of days ago when I saw an article on Karan Casey in the review section of last week's Glasgow Sunday Herald (on line). There was also an article about Mackenzie, the sisters who are not Talitha. Because of the Celtic Connections concerts.

As a member of the sea music group Roll & Go I need to contact Talitha Mackenzie in Scotland, formerly Talitha Nelson-Claypool that according to an old Mudcat thread Barry Finn and John Nolan knew in Boston back in the early 1980s. Talitha is composer of that fine sea song "Dramamine" which we have recently recorded and we wish to provide her appropriate credit, and royalties if so desired.
