Folks, I once had the lyrics and chords to "Tennessee Blues," recorded by Tracy Nelson back in the 1970s. Does anyone have these? I don't believe they're the same as the Bill Monroe song, but I'd like to find out. I searched the DT and couldn't come up with either.

The one I have in mind starts:

If I had my way, I'd leave here today,
I'd leave in a hurry.
I'd find me a spot on some mountain top

And then I get stuck. Right there on the mountaintop ...

I might want to use this for one of my lullabyes.

Thanks, ww

The "Tennessee Blues" that you're referring to was written by Bobby Charles and bears no resemblance to the Bill Monroe song.

As well as Tracy Nelson, there are also recorded versions by Bobby Charles and Geoff Muldaur. Martin Grosswendt used to do a great live version, but it's not on the one record of his that I've ever seen.

Jerry
