What a pleasure to see this announcement! Someone ran a thread about the best guitarist a while back, and I chose Bennett. There are many guitarists who get all the notes and miss the song completely. And many other great ones, too. Bennett just happens to be my favorite guitarist to listen to because he has such a strong sense of melody and impeccable phrasing. For someone who can make a guitar sing, he never plays too many notes. And Lorraine is always a delight. If you can make it down to Brooklyn, You're guaranteed of a memorable evening of Museum.

And I don't even get paid to say this..

Jerry

Concur and Second! (in this case, I guess 3rd) every NEFFA Bennett and I always make time to find a quiet corner & play fiddle tunes on guitar together, taking turns playing lead. . . and every year we say the same thing "I enjoy playing backup and watching you more than I do playing lead." Great musician. . . remember when he and Lorraine first got together (can it be 17 years already!!??) and they've gotten really tight as musicians (as well as being married to each other) come watch love on stage!

Boston based duo Lorraine and Bennett Hammond play in perfect complement. They blend their instruments, guitar and Appalachian dulcimer, to create a magical new voice for tunes that range in style from classical through Celtic, blues, and contemporary. They sing both traditional and original songs, reflecting a variety of influences from American and European traditions; their interpretations of traditional music attest to their ability to hear fresh sounds in antique songs.

Lorraine Lee Hammond
Beginning Dulcimer: 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon

Lorraine is considered among the country's best and most innovative dulcimer players. She is an experienced and patient teacher who has taught at the John Campbell Folk School, the Augusta Heritage Program, Summer Acoustic Music Week, Pinewoods Camp and the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. This time she will teach a workshop geared towards beginners.

Bennett Hammond
Intermediate/Advanced Guitar: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Bennett is a versatile guitar player who is adept in many styles. For us, he will teach a finger style guitar workshop. His technical inspiration comes from varied sources including the twangy Duane Eddy, blues man Lightning Hopkins and the sweet old timey finger-picker Etta Baker. Bennett has a mischievous sense of humor and one of his most popular workshops is called, "Cheap Guitar Tricks." He might even be persuaded to teach a few.

Tuition per workshop: $20.00 NY Pinewoods members. $22.00 non-members.

To register, please call Maggie Bye at (718) 630-1421. She will tell you the address.
