I recently heard a parody verse for the song Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think) which involved an inexperienced young woman milking a cow - the last line has the cow saying "You hold on tight while I jump up and down". Does anyone know this or any other verses to this song?

I think there's another thread on this song. Try typing "Enjoy Yourself" or "later than you think" in the DT/Forum search.

If you don't find it, I'll see if I can -- I'm sure I have it somewhere.

Oops! Joe, I didn't notice the word "parody" before I posted.

I'm wondering if you are thinkin of the Homer and Jethro version. That cow line sounds awfully familiar.

Well, that thread has the regular lyrics, but we still need the parody lyrics.

Thanks - thats a lot more words for the straight version than I'd previously found. What's this Homer and Jethro version?

The bloke I heard it from is a pianist who used to play it in a concert party in Plymouth (England) in the 50s and early 60s. Someone else suggested that Bennie Hill had used the verse about the cow, but I would have thought that would have to have been later, so maybe he pinched it.

The cow line appeared in Homer and Jethro's "So Long, It's Been Good to Know Yuh" parody in the 50s. "....you just hang on, boy, I'll jump up and down..."

Subject: ADD: Dorset is a'Beautiful

Sounds like the last line in one of the verses of "Dorset is a'Beautiful"

Dorset is a'Beautiful

...Oh! Dorset is a'beautiful wherever you go
And the rain in the summer-time makes the wurzle tree grow
When you're sitting in the spring-time in the thunder and the hail,
With your true love, on a turnip plant, to hear the sweet nightingale...

As I was a'walking one morning with a lass,
Mary Two Dorsetshire farmers I chanced for to pass.
And one said to the other as we went strolling by;
"There be more birds in the long grass than there be in the sky"

Oh! Nellie is my girlfriend and I loves her so.
Her's as big as an haystack and 40 years old.
Farmer says hers ginormous and loud do he scoff
For you has to leave a chalk mark to show where you left off.

Farmer looks at young Gwendoline and he looks at young Ned
"What a handsome young couple, they ought to be wed".
Farmer says sadly "It's impossible of course
For Gwendoline is my daughter and Ned he is my horse".

One day as her went milking with Nellie the cow,
Her pulled and her tugged but her didn't know how.
So after a short while, Nellie turned with a frown,
Saying "You hang on tight love and I'll jump up and down".
