Mo Chailín Bán - lyrics are also in "Amhrán-leabhar Ógra Éireann"!

But Connie Ó Gallchóir sings "Tá scoth na Gaeilge ag mo ghrá", the best of Irish Gaelic, not just "beagá" as printed in the books. He puts the 'o' back into "le mo rún, mo chailín bán", and leaves out the final verse about the coleen's disregard for the would-be lover.

Ciarilí, I forget which thread it was in, but Brian said if you were in N America you should get in touch with Daltaí na Gaeilge. As you are most interested in Scottish Gaelic, I will add that there are some Gaelic summer schools, for instance in N Carolina and in Nova Scotia, which are supposed to be good. Since you want a lot of songs from one CD (Conal O Gallchóir), why not send a request to the record company; you could tell them the reasons why lyrics should be included as well as (as is more common) translations or English language summaries.

No problem. I tried Annraoi's idea at first, which you might have picked up on by now, but I got no bites for a couple of days. (See the Conall O'Gallchoir thread, I actually asked which way you guys would like me to do my begging!) That's when I thought I'd go ahead and post 'em separately.

I know I've got a ton of requests (you should see the list I still have), but I'd like to repay those of you who frequent these Gaelic threads in kind. I've been typing in all the songs I've got on paper and also nabbing things from off the web, so I've got over 400 Irish and over 700 Scottish songs, most in Gaelic, even some Welsh, Cornish, Manx, and Breton songs, in electronic form. It's handy for passing out to all my friends, and one day I'll get round to a website myself. A lot of it has no notes, because I don't have any, though.

So there. If you are interested in my little collection, go ahead and email me at [e-mail]. I'm planning to post some to some other folks this week, anyway.
