Subject: RE: Tune Req: Red Rose Cafe From: GUEST,classmate_one@yahoo.com Date: 09 Oct 03 - 03:05 AM Hi there, Is there any French version of the song? I hear the song with the same melody from a famous French singer Mireille Mathieu. But the song is title as " Le Vieux cafe' de la D'Amerique". It is definitely not "Red Rose Cafe". Tina |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Red Rose Cafe From: GUEST,T Marsh Date: 01 Dec 03 - 10:34 PM The Song is sung at German clubs by some performers that know it - and it's in German "the Little Cafe" it translates to. I know the tune, but can't make midi. Hmm, I could tell you the notes which go with the words (but you'd have to KNOW the tune already). They come from the farms and the factories too e c c c c c b a a a a And they all soon forget who they are. g f e e e e g f e The cares of today are soon washed away e b b b b a g# g# g# g# As they sit at a stool by the bar. g# f e e e e g f e The girl with green eyes in the Rolling Stones shirt e c c c c c b a a a a Doesn't look like she works on the land. g f e e e e a e f The man at the end, he's a very good friend f c c c c b a e e e e Of a man who sells cars second hand. g f e e e e f# g# a cho: Down at the Red Rose Cafe in the Harbour C# e a c# c# a e C# f e e There by the port just outside Amsterdam. C# e a c# c# a e e f# e Everyone shares in the songs and the laughter. f# f# f# f# f# f# a d c# e Everyone there is so happy to be there. e e e e e e e f# g# e If c is capitalized, it means the lower C note. Now, if the format doesn't get ruined, each syllable of the words should have a note under it. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Red Rose Cafe From: GUEST,Maeve Slattery Date: 04 Jan 04 - 09:04 PM Get a copy of "The Fureys & Davey Arthur", album entitled, "The Scattering". It's a fantastic album but I believe it's very hard to get these days. They have a great version of "The Red Rose Cafe" on it. The album also containes a haunting version of a beautiful song called, "We Dreamed Our Dreams", written by the same man who wrote "The Isle Of Innisfree". I have been reading great stuff about "Innisfree" in the thread "The Quiet Man Film", and also on the thread, "Isle of Innisfree", with postings by Gerard Farrelly, Dick Farrelly's son. I'm sure there will be some of you Mudcatters who like myself would be interested in this. |
