From: mooman
Date: 10 May 02 - 12:46 PM

Here's a big welcome to four new Mudcatters:

Boo!: A friend of Wales-based 'Catter Llanfair

Laekenmuse: Fiddler, guitarist and singer

An Pluiméir Ceolmhar: Uillean piper and whistle player

Da Doo Ron Ron: Singer and member of the English/American/Canadian/Japanese barbershop quartet "Da Capo" (the thing I always forget!)

All four attended and provided fine contibutions to the recent Brussels 2002 Mudcat Gathering!

I hope you enjoy it here at the Mudcat. It is a unique fount of knowledge, music and friendship.

Very best regards,

mooman

English/American/Canadian/Japanese barbershop quartet "Da Capo"? Musically speaking, the ramifications of the nationalities alone are staggering. However, I sugget you sing naked until things settle down. Nudism is the great solidifier/emulsifier. Oh. Welcome to the Mudcat. Thong Bikinis are standard here for dress up. But dress is optional. A simple black strapless does 'Spaw and myself. We feel it's alway appropriate to overdress.

Welcome to the 'Cattery, please don't feed the inmates, and mind you don't step in anything. Oh yes, and please adjust your dress before leaving. Have a great time!

I have to get this outta the way before I move on to the meet and greet: Noreen, what in hell is that thing???? You cannot be serious that it's some sort of molusk. I read the previous thread, and looked at the song, but there is no way you are going to convince me that that thing is from this earth.

Sorry for the interruption...anyway, welcome one and all!! Pull up a virtual stool and have yourselves a virtual Guinness. Ah, hell...why not have a real one??? Oh, and here's the best little piece of wisdom I can impart to you: "Please don't feed the trolls".

Thanks to all for the warm welcome - and for the intitiation into the arcana of html.

On the Cookie Monster thread I have explained why I didn't respond sooner. I was in a state of Mudcat withdrawal for much of the last ten days as my home PC is indisposed and I am relying on the one which I use in work.

Also on the CM thread I've explained the background to my choice of nickname and indicated that I'm quite happy to be addressed either as "plumber" or as "apc", especially by those who can't find the code for the "é" of "Pluiméir" on their monolingual keyboards.

Now I just have to look forward to retirement so that work doesn't get in the way of the music and the 'Cat.

An Pluiméir

Seems like a pretty typical Mudcat welcome--hello's and banter all mixed together. Yes, that clam is real, and is pronounced "gooeyduck." You can even eat it while wearing a black strapless dress. (Last time I ate that clam was a very good Geoduck parmesian served at one of the fancy waterfront restaurants in Edmonds, WA).

Dear Pat,

And a warm Mudcat welcome to you too. You have a Mudcat neighbour we know well, the estimable Mudguard who lives in/near Munich!

I expect 'Spaw will be round soon to give the definitive Mudcat greeting!

Very best regards,

mooman
