Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boxer parody From: Susanne (skw) Date: 22 Jan 03 - 05:39 PM Jolley guest, sorry I can't help you there. May I suggest that you start a new thread with "Lyr Req. Johnny Horton song" or something in the title? That way many more people are likely to see and help with your request than if it is hidden away in a thread with a totally different title. Go to the top of the threadlist page, click on 'Create a new thread' and take it from there. Better still, click on "Mudcat FAQ - Newcomers' Guide" and read it before you start. You could also check the Digital Tradition database first - put the title or some characteristic phrase in the "Lyrics and Knowledge Search" box and see what comes up. One way or another, I hope you'll find what you're looking for and will be back frequently! |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boxer parody From: Schantieman Date: 18 Jan 03 - 09:01 AM I've just had it from the horse's mouth: "Dear Steve, Hope you didn't have money on the author of "The Folker" as it was me what wrote it (with a little help from Paul Simon of course). On my latest cassette I have updated the song with another four verses. Details of my other stuff can be found on my website-www.fredwedlock.net. Best wishes, Fred Wedlock" So there we are. Steve |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boxer parody From: Genie Date: 28 May 02 - 09:22 PM Interesting that I opened up Mudcat today to find this thread. Earlier today, when I chanced to encounter a boxer of the canine persuasion, it occurred to me that that might be a good parody to do--The Boxer (Dog). I'm wondering is anyone has done this? |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boxer parody From: Susanne (skw) Date: 28 May 02 - 07:46 PM I've just posted a question to the current 'Fred Wedlock' thread. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boxer parody From: Susanne (skw) Date: 27 May 02 - 06:32 PM Maybe, Jeri. Someone will find out. I can't check, unfortunately, because I have no commercial recording of the song, just a bootleg tape. (Yes, I did ask permission, and no, I've never been tempted to turn it into a hit single! :-)) |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boxer parody From: Jeri Date: 27 May 02 - 10:11 AM Susanne, this isn't reliable information, just evidence. The Rick Bowers song still contains the line "I'm called Lead Fingers Wedlock." I'd guess somebody just misattributed it to the singer they learned it from when they sent it in. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boxer parody From: Susanne (skw) Date: 25 May 02 - 10:55 AM Where did the info 'Rick Bower' as author come from? As far as I know it's called 'The Folker' and copyrighted by Fred Wedlock (who, some people claim, didn't write much of it either ...). Or are they two different songs who happened to start from the same idea? Any reliable info out there? |
