I hope to see other Mudcatters at Chippenham. Who is going?

This year will be its last chance as far as I am concerned. Last year all the regular pub singing venues seemed to be missing. I know that several regular singers have given it a miss this year.

Where will we have to sing this year?

I'm singing in the rain ... (but I hope we won't have to!)
Alan

I'll be there, as will Kitty, who's hosting her own sessions in the Cause this year.

PS I know that Derek & Mary Droscher (who run Banbury Folk Club) will be going and that Bev & Chris Arnscott will not.

PPS What sessions will you be running Admiral? The usual shanty one? (I haven't got my programme yet - that's always the problem with having a surname at the end of the alphabet!)

Come all ye bold heroes, give an ear to nmy song ...
Alan

According to my program the admiral is running lunchtime 12-2 singarounds in the Rose & Crown Lounge at the same time as Kitty's hosting her song sessions at the Cause Hall, Moira Craig is running ballad sessions 2.30-4, and Pearl's running an evening folk club with guests 8-11.30 at the Cause Hall

The Bear at lunchtimes used to be the place, what happened to that venue?

If The Bear is the particular pub I am thinking of, ie the one at the top of the pedestrian area almost opposite The Angel and almost half way between The Angel and The Rose & Crown, it closed a couple of years back and was just sitting there last year in a state of increasing disrepair, looking rather sorry for itself!

Ale, ale, glorious ale ...

Tony O'Neill's essential sing was in the Bear before it moved to the Rose & Crown.

My singaround will run as a sing around the room (which is difficult to manage in a pub with all the comings and goings) but the Cause is a non-smoking venue. Good for asthmatics - and Alan White is running the bar.

But what Alanww is missing is the informal sings that happened eg in the back bar of the Angel before it got tarted up (with prices to match).

Kitty

PS The Angel is no longer a festival venue

I'll be there but none of this sniging lark. I'll be tucked up in the Old Road Tavern playing music. I know there are a few Mudcatters who look in there so I'll try to remember my Mudcat badge.

I'll be there too, next to the river as always I think. The weather forecast looks like the lemonade will be flowing. Gosh I hope they've got it right! Sal

I'll be at home with the Bratling and a very large bar of chocolate (which is secreted about the house). If anyone is passing East London and would like to do some babysitting, please feel free to pop in....

LTS (getting slightly panicky now about a whole 4 days alone with child....)

Thanks for the plug Kitty!

Pearl and I are doing our usual gigs at Chippers this year, namely the Folk Club Friday and Saturday Nights at the Cause (a new venue that Bob Berry has been raving about) and the Essential Sing at the Rose and Crown every lunchtime starting at 12.00 - get there early if you want a seat (but leave one for me and Pearl, please)

We usually try to fit in a Shanty and Sea Song Sing on the Monday.

We have been at the Rose and Crown for three or four years now - The 'Bear' closed for refurbishment that previous year and hasn't been used as a festival venue since.

Still, I reckon the 'Rose and Crown' is a better venue

All the best and safe journeys there whatever venues you're going to and if you come to ours, come and introduce yourselves

Tony and Pearl
