Fageddabatit!

I'm 74 and I know I' not the oldest. And all my teeth are my own; I have the receipt from the dentist to prove it.

BTW I marched in our local Memorial Day parade today with a vet who's 77 and planning to run in the New York Marathon this year, for the seventeenth consecutive year! I told him I planned to watch for the seventeetn consecutive year.

As some comic recently said about running, "I want to be sick when I die!"

You are only as old as you feel, some days that makes me about one hundred and ten years old and others I'm a spring chicken!

That comment from the comic sounds like something I would say. I have been know to mention that given all this diet and excercise that Dr has me on "that I may not live forever but I'll be healthy when I die!"

"remember...in order to stay healthy until you die, you have to die very suddenly"

(there was a thread "how old is a Mudcatter" once...we have several in 70's and maybe one past 80)

(I'm a spring chicken of 63)

Banjer...Diet, for diet's sake, and exercise, for exercise's sake....may not live forever but it will FEEL like it. 10 minutes on an exercise bike lasts at least an hour...

71 next month. When I see that number, my immediate reaction is "no, that can't be right!" But that's what the calendar says.

On the aforementioned other thread, somebody asked, "how old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" I like that.

Still a chicken here at 64, but I DO run over 90 kilometres a week. That's more than two marathons.

When my new heart valve is fully run in it'll be more than that :-)

I'm a mere 37 and feel a bloody sight worse than you lot appear to!! Having said that, I worked in an office where I was the 2nd oldest and the youngest could have been my son, and it wouldn't have been a schoolgirl pregnancy! I ended up feeling a lot younger, so I guess surroundings has a lot to do with it.

So far the oldest is Dicho at 79. Any advance?

Could we start a rival thread about who LOOKS the oldest? Because if you put Spaw and Bill Sables together you wouldn't necessarily get the ages right!

I'm just a young 58. I heard many years ago that having sex was the equivalent of running a mile - so why do all these silly b*****S go jogging ? As far using an exercise bike, I'd rather use a real one - at least the scenery changes.

I agree with the fellow who when asked how he would like to end his days said "Shot by a jealous husband - at the age of 98 !"

A jewish lady who I know (she is on the folk scene) had an uncle who died in his Eighties - in bed with the Rabbi's wife ! - I was at the funeral with her.

Well he doesn't post, 'cause he doesn't have a computer, but if we count Mudders' Fodders who have been heard on Mudcat Radio and whom the offspring have told you lot a lot about, then my dad might be close; he just turned 85 and still drives himself 20 miles or so,each way, 2-3 times per week to "entertain the old folks." BUT, I think Bert's dad may be older than him, even.:-)

And here I'd thought Gloredhel was the youngest, but come to think of it she may be a few months older than Shonagh.

My ambition is to die young - as late as possible. I've put it off for 53 years so far. Who was it said that good health is just the slowest way to die? BTW, my dad just turned 90, he still drives but complains he's starting to feel a bit tired walking around town!

I feel like a youngster at 66. Joe, our bass singer in the Gospel Messengers just turned 78, and Frankie our baritone is 76. A couple of weeks ago, we did a concert with the Dixie Hummingbirds and their lead singer, Ira Tucker just about peeled the paint off the walls. He's been in the Dixie Hummingbirds for over 60 years! That's the great thing about folk music and gospel.. it's cool to get old. In today's pop music, you're washed up at 19. :-)

Wow! And I thought I was beginning to age at 59+.

This discussion puts me in mind of a short filler in an old Sing Out!

"Due to his life long habit of drinking whiskey, another old man has passed away at the county home at the age of 104; he was an orphan."

Age well -- Tom

You'd have threads about princesses, various shades of pink, the merits of My Little Pony over Barbie's horse and the only music would be Atomic Kitten (if you can call them music) and SClub7....

I ain't telling how old I am. But I will answer Dave Bryant! IMHOP and experience, running improves sex exponentially. That's why we do it. Oh, and it enhances the ability to sing and play one's instrument (that's musical instrument, 'Spaw), sharpens the mind and makes you feel frisky! I agree about the exercise bike. Real bikes make you feel like a kid again, with your first two-wheeler.

I'll be 69 on June 15th but I'm really looking forward to next years birthday. 70 years old seems such a landmark, biblical span, etc. I'm considering doing a whole years celebration, 2003 - 04, coming out of my semi-retirement and doing a 'life in the old dog yet tour'. I'd like to sing in as many UK clubs as I can, likewise California (it's been 20 years) and Australia (also 20 years), and make a first time visit to the PNW, plus some non-musical things I've been putting off for years. I keep reasonably active with running, walking, rowing machine etc, but I can't compete with my Auntie Nelly who has conplained of ill health throughout her life, has a pessimistic view on everything, and has never taken exercise. Her favourite topic is ailments, hers and other peoples, and she always enjoys a good funeral. My Dad said of her "Our Nelly enjoys bad health". He also said that"She's always poorly but she'll outlive the lot of us". He was right. In November Aunty Nelly will be 102 years old. Seems like I've got good genes. If I hold on long enough I COULD get to be the oldest Mudcatter!

Looking on the bright side here, we're already older than a lot of famous dead guys!

and BOB53........If you'll be 53 on 8/29/49, that means you're 105 now. So either you're the oldest or you live in a time warp.

I've never seen the need to knock anything off my age, you're only as old as you feel and today I feel about 95. With any luck there'll be a fire drill and I can feel a few more...
