Subject: When they ring those golden bells From: Charcloth Date: 02 Jun 02 - 10:54 PM I had this site bookmarked but lost it. I'm looking for the Lyrics to the song Emmy Lou Harris did "When they Ring those golden bells" Thanks all Charcloth |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When they ring those golden bells From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 02 Jun 02 - 11:01 PM I imagine by the time that I post this, Masato or Dicho will already have posted three different variants. I've never heard Emmy Lou do this song, but it's been recorded by many black gospel quartets. I'll check lyrics to recordings I have, once the Gospel Brothers post their versions. (I think they are a terrific resource, and generous beyond measure...) Jerry |

WHEN THEY RING THOSE GOLDEN BELLS
There's a land beyond the river
Don't you hear the bells a-ringin'?
When our days have known their number,
Don't you hear the bells a-ringin'?
Also performed by The Country Gentlemen, Gospel Song Birds, The Cluster Pluckers, Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet, Alfred G. Karnes, and the list goes on. Title is sometimes "When They Ring the Golden Bells." ~Masato

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When they ring those golden bells From: RoyH (Burl) Date: 03 Jun 02 - 06:03 PM Masato, you are so right. Alfred G Karnes was a terrific singer. I love his version of 'Golden Bells' and everything else he does. My recommendation - if you haven't heard him sing yet, do yourself a favour and do so as soon as possible. You won't regret it. He played something called a Harp-guitar. Anybody know anyhting about Harp Guitars? Burl. |
