Someone writing in the Irish Times yesterday referred to the Macbeth-like reputation of the tune "Pretty Girl Milking Her Cow". Wha?

Are there other tunes that are regarded as lucky or unlucky? And does the Cailin Deas Cruite have that rep?

Well, I do remember at the Essex Folk Festival 1968 (or 1969) held in a marquee behind a pub in Collier Row, Dave and Toni Arthur sang a song which they said would raise the wind - and it did ! (No, it wasn't *that* kind of wind) - the whole tent suddenly billowed and nearly blew away. "Guest- Peter from Essex" was there and, I think, probably Pavane, who will verify this, if they read it.

I've heard that there's a Macbeth-like effect from the song "Long Lankin". Not surprisingly.

Most people have one unlucky tune. For several folks it's 'The Wedding March' or 'Here comes the bride'.....

(before you get snitty Manitas, remember, we didn't actually have the gruesome twosome!)

Does it keep you from sleeping at night?

Does the whole forest move for you?

Were you born by Caesarean section?

Worst of all - has it made you murder people?
