I used it once, but that was quite a few versions ago. Hopefully it's a little more intuitive since then.

I have Logic Delta, with the little 4 in/4 out breakout box, but I haven't used it yet... I'm a little intimidated.
Is there a user's group/forum on the net that you're aware of?

Cheers,
Michael

I am a devoted fan of CAKEWALK and openly sing its praises on the Mudcat and elsewhere.

However, since Emagic Logic is abandoning the Windows medium and moving over to mac; it was my thinking that the price might fall to bargain basement levels for the PC platform....and it could become a toy to play with.

I know musicians that use SoundForge and Cakewalk but no-one who has experienced Logic; perhaps the German/European orgin has limited its western distribution.

In regard to your question michaelr I can refer you to:

http://www3.emagic.de/english/news/index.html

http://www.mcc.ac.uk/~emagic/emagic_page.html

And a place I like: rec.music.makers.synth

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

WHOOPS - Apologies - the "rec.music" reference is found in the "newsgroups" areas of the net. It is NOT a website.

Forgot about the NEWBIES here - Lord forbid I should bring in FTP or even worse...

Thanks, gargoyle. The official site states that they will continue to support Windows.

Am mystified by your second post... newbies? FTP? please explain!

Cheers,
Michael

lol, Garg!

Yeah, Cakewalk is a nice, easy, and pretty powerful program. I'm sure Logic has more power in th advanced settings, but am equally sure it's much more difficult to learn how to use it!!!

I use Logic on the Mac and it blows Cakewalk/Sonar,Cubase and Digital Performer away if you ask me.I've used all of the aforementioned programs extensively and Logic is by far and away the one I prefer.I started using Logic on the PC then I switched to Logic on the Mac.It was very shady that they just released a new version along with hardware controllers and then dumped Windows users after they'd just laid out their hard earned cash. The offer they are making to Windows users is only any use to them if they either already have a Mac or wish to shell out for a new Mac,obviously it's Apple who are calling the shots now,and it's them that have dumped the windows side of it not Emagic whose 2 or 3 bigwigs walk away with a small fortune while the Emagic workers get shafted i.e. the Emagic windows coders, let's hope Apple don't ruin an exceptionally good program by making it Isequencer or something equally as bad.

Cakewalk and Steinberg will be happy with the gap left in the windows market they've already moved in on the Logic windows users with tempting crossgrade offers that allow the prospective customer to keep Logic at the same time, but Motu(Digital Performer)who are Mac only will probably feel worried by the competition from an advanced audio/midi sequencer owned by Apple.

As for Logic being difficult to learn it's really just a case of grasping the concept of the environment once you've grasped that it becomes clear why they called the program Logic Audio. If you want to understand the concept of the environment all you have to do is read the manual, which is very comprehensive, and the .pdf files included on the cd rom. Many people equate pretty colours and nice graphics with a good interface but it's ease of use and how quickly you can achieve the desired results that are the marks of a good interface and on those terms Logic is the epitomy of excellence.
