Assuming that you're on pain medication while you recover from surgery, you shouldn't get drunk either! I suggest you tape your arms to your sides to avoid the temptation to fiddle or to hold a cup of beer... *big grin*

Read the original Madeleine. "...And all the little girls cried Boo hoo hoo! We want to have our appendix out TOO!"

You will be totally amazed at your lose of coordination. It is worse than getting off a three week drunken-blackedout-bender. The anasthesia REALLY does a number on your nervous system - they bring you very close to "death" to put you through the opperation.

Early on you will wonder if you will ever be able to play correctly again. By week three things will be back to normal.

Get well soon. Enjoy the flow.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

I can't see why you can't play fiddle! Have a go, balance your fiddle on your arm or rest your arms on the sofa. Try working out something complecated for use later when you can swing your body about.

Gargoyle's got it right, the anasthesia does wreak havoc with your system and it takes a long time to rid your body of it. If you try playing too early it may take a lot longer to recover. To avoid temptation, perhaps you should stay home and read a few good books? Be patient and kind to your bod; it'll be better in the long run.:->

Also, you use your stomach muscles (sort of) to run the bow.

Appendicitis is just about the perfect illness, isn't it? Just before you go to hospital, you feel so sick and in so much pain that all you want to do is to go to sleep and wake up without an apppendix. That's what happens too. A day or two and you'll be over the "appendix walk". Hope the recovery goes quickly, but you can only speed up the recovery by slowing everything else down for a few days. Wishing you good health and good fiddling in the near future.
