Subject: BS: Nickname Remy - what is the real name? From: MudGuard Date: 30 Jul 02 - 12:50 PM Hello, a friend of mine asked me for help. He wants to know which name might result in a nickname of Remy (as Thomas is converted to Tommy, what is converted to Remy). TIA MudGuard |

Subject: RE: BS: Nickname Remy - what is the real name? From: Sorcha Date: 30 Jul 02 - 02:28 PM There is Remy Charlip who is Jewish and writes children's books. Perhaps there is a Hebrew or Yiddish name? |
Subject: RE: BS: Nickname Remy - what is the real name? From: Grab Date: 30 Jul 02 - 02:28 PM It's actually a name on its own. It's a French man's name. I refer you to this page which I found in Google (just kill the popups as they happen). I'm sure there are also names which can be shortened and have a "Y" added (as "James" becomes "Jimmy") to convert them to "Remy", but it's not necessarily a shortened version of another name. Graham. |

Subject: RE: BS: Nickname Remy - what is the real name? From: An Pluiméir Ceolmhar Date: 31 Jul 02 - 06:18 AM MudGuard, I have long assumed that Rémy is the same as St. Remigius, a name which comes back to me from my times in Germany (mainly Nordrhein-Westalen). Is it the name of a beer, a mineral water, or just some street that I used to pass by near the University in Bonn? |
