My friend's two daughters (not yet teenagers, but already good whistle players, and beginning to perform in local folk clubs) are holding a charity event next week. I promised to post their information on Mudcat. I know that many of you will be busy on that night, but it would be great if any 'catters could come along.

"Charity Session/ Musicians/ Singers Night
Friday August 16th from 7.30pm
At Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall, Swanland Rd. Hessle.
£2 donation to play incl. Tea/coffee (Bring a bottle if you wish)
Run by Lifestyle team, Ampleforth Antics
In aid of the Hull Catholic Handicapped Fellowship
This charity funds holidays for mentally and physically disabled people and gives carers respite time too.
For more information ring 648847
Please come along and support this Lifestyle team's efforts"

Doubt if we can get along but would like to encourage UK Mudcatters to support ANY Lifestyle team.

It's a scheme organised by the Police to encourage teams of young people (with an adult supervisor) to raise money over the summer holidays for a charity of their choice. I've been involved with several teams through school and they do a brilliant job and often raise much needed money for smaller charities - like this one.

May come along and play first before heading up to whitby.

It is well worth noting that these kids are going to be fantastic musicians they are already composing their own tunes some of which are already being played in sessions accross the north. So support them if you can.

John
