Hi all, I'm looking to find some people to play music with in the South Seattle/South King County area. Specifically, I live in Kent, WA, and would love to find some people to play with.

I play guitar, sing, and I play a little piano (though I don't have access to one right now). Singing is the only thing I've done semi-professionally, but I was raised by musicians so I imagine my experience singing will transfer.

Yep, I'm about as amateur as you can get (well, maybe you could get more amateur than me, but it'd take some doing), but I'd like to have some fun and maybe work on moving in a more professional direction.

Know of anybody in the South King County region that might like to get together and have fun palying music? Send 'em my way!

:) Old Brown's Daughter

Good grief, I'm not that cool. I do have email, though--monica_b76@hotmail.com

So now I'll get spammed ridiculously because I just posted my email on the internet...whatever, that's what a blocked senders list and a junk mail folder are for... :)

Remember to chum upl people at the local string store.......they will know all the musicians, and sessions in the area. Or at least, around here, you can go to Lark in the Morning, and have a session going in no time!

If you can manage to get down to Tacoma, check out the Victory Music open mikes. No doubt you'll find some S. King Co. people there; just strike up a conversation with somebody in the audience and let them know what you're looking for, and they'll probably know somebody who knows somebody... They also have an incredible newsletter, the Victory Music Review, which lists concerts and musical get-togethers all around the Sound. When I lived in Seattle (1985-90), I was active in the Seattle Song Circle, and I'm pretty sure we had some members who traveled from down your way, so you might want to check them out as well. You can find out about them--and lots more info--on the Seattle Folklore Society web page. Good luck! I know just how you feel...I'm an amateur guitarist and singer and just moved from a small town to the big city--and already I found a fiddler to jam with, and will be going to an old-time jam Saturday afternoon and an Irish singalong Saturday night! Yippee!

Aloha,
Mark

The SFS Song Circle this Sunday is on the East side (Kirkland) at the home of G. A., who is, according to those in the know at SFS, a cool blues player. Austin. My SFS email re this song circle said, "If you like blues, cancel that trip to New Orleans and show up Sunday.

If you PM me or email me at geniesings@yahoo.com, I will send you the address and phone number. The SFS website also has the phone numbers of Bruce and Jean, head honchos for the song circles. Call either one for information on where the gathering is each week or just get on their mailing list.

Hi, OBD!

I don't live in Seattle, but I'm up there for a while every month and I usually make it to the SFS song circle at least once a month. I stay in the UW district when in town, but I frequently do music in Kent, Auburn, Burien, Des Moines, Renton, and Federal Way, so getting together with you some time would not be difficult, if you're interested.

If you can go to one of the song circles, you may meet some other folks who live nearby and would like to make music with you. Jean S. (mentioned above) lives in Bellevue not far from where I-90 intersects with I-405, so she's not far from you time-wise.

As I said in the post above, email me and I'll send you more info. (I didn't mean to post exactly the same post in these two related threads. Sorry.)

Genie
