Translation (from Scottish Gaelic):

Tonight's the first night of the Autumn
When I was sent to watch the barn,
Not sent to keep its store.
Last night I heard the hunters calling
Between the bayhead and the fording.
`Twas not the voice of lad or hound
But the voice of a woman -it was all haughty -
Whom a band of young men followed.
She could have her choice of them;
The youth she chose, full skilled and knowing
With no feud to fear from foemen.
