Subject: Lyr Req: Fenians in Australia From: GUEST,weerover Date: 27 Oct 02 - 06:35 AM A song that was sung by a young Australian woman (Meg Ford) years ago to the tune of Rosin the Bow / men of the West. The chorus goes: Come all you screw warders and jailers And remember Perth regatta day And take better care of your Fenians Or the Yankees'll steal them away Anyone have the verses? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fenians in Australia From: Hrothgar Date: 01 Nov 02 - 01:59 AM Good book about the incident: "The Emerald Whaler," William J Laubenstein, originally published by Andre Deutsch. Don't know the original publication date - my copy is a book club copy that I think came out in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The latest date for any of the material in the bibliography is 1956, so it couldn't be earlier than that. |
